Revival Amps is quite workable:

the silver and blue amps with 4x12 and reverb are good ones

I feel the current December sale of $59 is killer. I got it years ago and used the organs every day. Last year I found serious synth stuff and use it regularly (the new VST version is being pushed as a synth and has no Audio In*). Plus now it's in my regular guitar amp collection along with Vermillion, Creme, and Softube. I've noticed most people don't like the way it looks or the way you have to set it up and tweak it. That's why I started on a Revival guitar amp combinator series. I'm doing some more like one for metal and one for Fender. It will also be perfect for when Kuassa finishes their tube distortion stomp boxes that were announced. I've been trying Revival guitar amps with Scream (before or after), and it works well because the tube modeling in Revival comes through when you crank the Swell knob. I hope you can get it before January, and you can cover it up with more combinator skins.strata tonic wrote:...I demoed Revival way back...Maybe a killer sale will sway me...

I remember now another reason I didn't jump on revival back then. To me the whole setup was overkill - personally was not interested in the organ/synth aspect of the RE. There was talk of making a RE just based on the FX section. That would have been cool, and would have made patching easier (would have automatically sent audio through FX, rather than creating an instrument first). Currently, even at $59 US, the RE is over $80 CAN. For a cheap ass Canuck, that is far too much for a few tones - as nice as they may sound.jfrichards wrote:I feel the current December sale of $59 is killer. Hopefully, the Kuassa Stomps have a decent intro price - I liked the Overdrive series during beta.
I recently used Fritz "Organic Stream" on my Fender Stratocaster, heard at at 3:50 on this track using about 50-60% Dry/Wet, then dropped it down to 20% at 5:00. Awesome effect; makes the guitar sound synthetic Never had any pedal effect like this granular effect. Closest I ever came was maybe the Electro Harmonix Frequency Analyzer, which was weird but not really close.

Fabulous effect on top of your Isley Brothers sound. What is your guitar setup in Reason besides a very nice Strat? It's great.wendylou wrote:...Awesome effect; makes the guitar sound synthetic...
It's a variation of the Krustok Guitar Rack. I'm always looking for that certain sound - this was one attempt. Can't have enough guitar racks I added Fritz to it just for that song so it's not mapped to any button. Vermillion always on, song starts with Blamsoft Tube and Overdrive enabled at start with "Distortion" button, then Blamsoft Distortion and Synapse Vintage Phaser enabled with "Lead" button, plus Fritz.

This song has two of the Revival Gold amps, which I guess are old Fender tweed bassman types, both with 2x12 cabs:jfrichards wrote:Revival Amps is quite workable...the silver and blue amps with 4x12 and reverb are good ones

Here is a Revival combinator using the Red amp, which is very similar to a Dual Showman, and has the wah turned on for leads

I picked up Vermilion and Creme today. I'm going to work on a handfull of patches for the group combi. My guitar is really buzzy, so I've had to throw EQ on first and filter out a lot of noise when playing with patches. Not sure if this is normal or not, but I won't include that pre-eq in my patches.
Edit: D'oh, just found the noise gate!

If you're sitting close to electronics, computers, the signal will be amplified. Keep your guitar over a meter away from that. Keep the source cleanCatblack wrote:I picked up Vermilion and Creme today. I'm going to work on a handfull of patches for the group combi. I also picked up Revival for playing my guitar through based on the discussion on this thread (and some others.) It's my first synth RE, too, and I'm totally enjoying the sound... I haven't figured out exactly where the effects are on the front panel, it's pretty dense!
(I'm also wondering if you or anyone has the Revival patches mentioned on the Sononics website here: http://www.sononics.com/forum-2/product ... d-patches/ ? I am under the impression these are patches that don't ship with it?)

I just noticed that Kuassa has a converter (mac and win) for their patches between vst and RE formats. I've gone through Kuassa's site and Dimi's blog and here's all of the patches I could find, converted.
(removed)
Oh, and DImi's putting up combinators, and starting to add patches for the new distortion units (which I'm skipping.)

With all the good amp and effect stuff for guitarists these days, don't forget to use the amazing free cabinets by putting Kalthallen cabinet/microphone tones into an RV7000, available here:
http://cabs.kalthallen.de/kalthallen_free.html
Using the new Efektor boxes and a Vermilion with a Kalthallen really works.

Damn, all these new Kuassa sounds are great!!
And this new thing from East-West for midi guitarists shows exactly what can be done in Reason. Nobody has dived into the R9 sounds and patches with a midi guitar yet. Or all the Miroslav instrumentations!! It's gonna be really good. Especially with simultaneous Kuassa guitar, wow.
