Tsar-1 vs 1R

Straight to the point. I've got the 1R RE. At the moment I can get the full Tsar-1 VST upgrade for about €40. It's old. Is it worth getting or am I probably covered with all the million other reverbs I already have? Thanks.

For me the Tsar-1 is a trully fantastic reverb, especially for natural instruments and vocals, but it all depends what will you gain, how deep you like to fiddle with the reverb settings. I think for 40 euros it's a good deal. One thing I miss is the lo cut filter. The question is also how many presets you have in 1R compared to 1. Now 1 is on sale for 69 euros and 1R without promotion for 89 euros.

Thanks. Yeah...I get the upgrade price because I've got the VST and then there's a code for a further 10%. To be honest I think I've already talked myself out of it .

For that sort of money, I'd also suggest checking out the various Valhalla reverbs.

Fig, I think you got in on the IK Multibuy right? Did you get Sunset Studios reverb? For realistic rooms and spaces, I think it’s fantastic. Heavy on CPU though, like most IK plugs.

Sorry didn't really explain it, but I commented because since getting Sunset, I don't really use the TSAR-1R anymore.
