How to adjust MIDI knob sensitivity?

I just got arturia beatstep, it's just knobs mostly so I can control and record effects easier. Setting up and assigning is easy but when I rotate the knobs, the correlated knobs in reason move in really small increments. Is there a way to make them move in higher increments? Doesn't seem to be an option in preferences and I'm almost certain this is a modulation matrix thing, something I've yet to learn fully. If so, is this something I will always have to set up? Any easier option so the increments are at a sensitivity I like across all reason devices?

In a nutshell, no.

Reason simply responds to MIDI values 0-127. Technically, it's the Beatstep that will need its knob sensitivity adjusting...if it is at all possible.

Check the Global Parameters for the Beatstep. According to the Beatstep manual, you can choose from three response curves for the encoders. It sounds like you've chosen the "Slow" setting.

If you google this you will come up with others expressing the same concerns for years now, so there may be little you can do besides checking the Acceleration setting as suggested by Huggermugger.

Awww man thank you guys, unfortunately I downloaded the their midi control software, synced it and changed the global setting to fast acceleration and it just doesn't work. Controlling the knobs are just horrible. Will return this asap.

Can you guys recommend any midi knob controllers that work well with Reason? I mainly need knobs, a decent amount of them at least. This one has 20, so around that I think would be good. If it has some pads that's fine too

No exact budget. That one looks way too big. Need something more petite so it fits well with my Arturia Keystep 32 key and the main thing is the knobs will work well with Reason. The beatstep simply is perfectly designed but useless with the way the knobs respond

That's odd. I have a Minilab 3 myself. Works well with Reason straight out of the box. The knobs are fine for me, although maybe they behave similar to the Beatstep being the same brand. There is some editing of the controls via the MIDI control center software. I'd imagine Beatstep is also uses this? Has some sliders as well, which also work well and it's small and affordable;

Maybe the Minilab is newer and more responsive with the knobs since apparently the beatstep has been around for a while. I've adjusted and synced all necessary settings in the MIDI Control Center (went into project tab and set global acceleration to fast). Rebooted Reason and tried other knobs to no avail. Just super slow increment and half the time barely even responds, I have to literally jolt it all the way around just to get it going. I have an Alesis 49 key with some knobs that works perfect but it's too big for my taste

You probably want something with pots rather than encoders.
If you want lots of pot knobs then the Akai MIDIMix is a decent budget option. Some people find the knobs a bit "low profile" but I found them fine. You can change them for any standard "D-profile" fitting knob if you want.

The weird thing is Beatstep works OK controlling my Aeros looper, but honestly I use the pads (as buttons) for most actions and I’ve not dug deeper into the knobs as controllers. I can check today and report back - it’s still a handy controller to have around IMO, especially for it’s size.

A possible alternative would be the nano series from Korg, though I’ve not used this model:

thanks guys that Akai looks solid but looking for something shaped similar to beatstep compact rectangle, although I am considering it

yes Selig that's the controller I narrowed down to the other night and some reason users on other sites recommended it. will still see what else there is while I wait for refund of beatstep. and LMK if the beatstep knobs work well for you. Perhaps mine is just defective meaning not only is it SUPER slow, sometimes delayed or unresponsive and I have to jolt all the way around just to get a reaction. that is definitely abnormal and impractical.
