Long time lurker, first post. Be gentle!
Registered for this since there seems to be a wide range of experiences with Reason 12 performance (both Beta and LIVE Stable release). Definitely nothing like Beta was for me when I first tried that, so kudos to the team for some exponential gains in my own case (it was blah in Beta). Hopefully some folks find this useful and we can get a few "cards" posted in a similar fashion. Give some people better ideas of what hardware is working well vs those possibly experiencing less than satisfactory results. Identify possible trends or patterns most likely related to AMD vs INTEL or specific soundcard devices, etc. Try to keep it respectful and objective. Kept it to only a two common test cases to keep it simple (RE: soundcard buffering). Personally, I'm not as worried about immediate quarks as those should get hashed out (IE. browser tree complaints, etc). I would like to see transport bar and sequencer tool icons updated for proper resolution ASAP. First world problem, but really detracts from the new zoom feature.
Basic Considerations:
- Application zoom @ 120% w/ 3440x1440 resolution
- All high-res devices allowed to load prior to testing (includes RE's)
- No abnormal spikes in CPU activity @ idle or play (even when using preview window tool to *jerk* up/down rack or mixer view as fast as possible)
- Barely scratching DSP meter (1-tick)
- No audio anomalies experienced at either buffer settings
- UI feels butter smooth when scrolling
- Play head does express minor jitter during playback when zoomed *others had noted
- Only Midi device is a Montage 7, but not running or configured during either testing case
- Coming from Reason Suite 11 for my own perspective / contrast
