Korg M1, installing factory sounds

Hi All!

Someone has a Korg M1 going cheap but apparently they did a factory reset and there's no sounds on it. Can these be installed online somehow, if so, how hard is it and how true to the original would they be soundwise?

Thanks!

If you have a sequencer that can handle MIDI SysEx data then it should be pretty simple:

Not sure about that, would Reaper do it, wouldn't surprise me if it did.

A CR232 battery is required to store presets. If the battery is bad, the presets will be reset again. On the Internet you can find a guide on how to disassemble the synthesizer and replace the old battery.

As it's a one off it's probably easier to do it with a freebie MIDI utility like MIDIOX or Pocket MIDI.

(With the M1 you're going to love the keybed but hate the user interface - a festival of menu-diving and clicky buttons)

Yes, the buttons click loudly. But you need to be careful! Strong pressure often breaks ancient plastic.
