Yeah the Juno-106 is one of my synth-wants. Hope you got a good price for it? ;)
I did, actually, though I sold it with the MSQ-100 sequencer that goes with it as well. It needed to have at least 2 voice chips replaced (likely all 6 at some point), the filter chips were starting to act a little wonky, and the battery needed to be de-soldered and replaced. And that was just the "regular" maintenance that it needed. I'm sure the potentiometers on various sliders would fail at some point, as most felt a little grindy.
If you or anyone else on here needs work like that done, hit me up (if you're in the US, especially in the upper Midwest). I do synth repairs as a side-gig and have had a pretty solid success rate with saving those old wonky chips. The sliders usually just need opening up, cleaning the resistive tracks and wipers, and lubing the parts that rub metal-to-metal.

That said, I do have a Juno-106 here that needs a lot of work, that hopefully will be ready to go this fall. Follow my shop Instagram and hit me up if you have any repair needs or gear wants: https://www.instagram.com/madisynths/

Cool; good to know. Not sure how much shipping would be from where I'm at to Waunakee, WI, but if my JX8P repair isn't successful, I might get in contact. Cheers

It's not much and I need proper monitors and an interface, and the PC is in desperate need of upgrades, but it's home for now and beats what I had for the past 3 years, which was just a laptop on a table and some headphones.

Ok, I FINALLY have a picture worthy of contributing here of my new creative space outside of NYC in (very) rural Connecticut. Started construction almost a year ago now, took 6 months during Covid to complete, and another few months to decorate and finally clean up enough for a photo.
It's a dream come true as my ultimate one-man studio, but is also going to host groups of friends over time to celebrate the gift of music!

Will also try to do some live streams from the space - did a quick 30min space jam a few weeks ago with few issues as my "maiden voyage" so to speak. ;)
Image

For reference, here's a less panoramic shot of the original garage looking the same direction as the first photo - note the beam in the current shot is where the wall used to be in the original garage, and as a common point of reference note the skylight in the left back of both shots:

Beautiful and inspirational looking studio, Giles. Very nice! I'm not jealous at all. ;)

I'll bet the barcodes gives a coupon code. Let's use it! See you in Connecticut. Don't forget to bring your sitar.

Ugh... this happened earlier this year when I built my second wall-mounted workstation area. I didn't tighten my top or bottom braces enough, and the SQ1+ I had mounted above fell at knocked my JX8P onto the floor. It went from this:

I've got a replacement key (thanks Syntaur!), but haven't gotten around to switching it out. I also need to clean the copper contacts. Otherwise, it works fine. I was able to order a replacement 5-pin DIN cable for the programmer thankfully.

Syntaur is awesome. I got to meet their crew at Knobcon last month. I've got a shit ton of parts & keys that I sell, but nowhere near the inventory they have (see links in signature to Madisynths). I make sure to have a lot of the popular parts, like stuff for Juno-60's and Juno-106's, some Korg stuff, etc.

Where are you located? HMU if you need any help with getting that key replaced and the key contacts cleaned up.

Thanks man! I’ll PM you if things go south. I replaced some keys on my old Juno 106 before I sold it, but the JX-8P looks particularly daunting with that plastic strip that holds the keys down. Not sure how to remove that just yet.

Nice, I might have run into you there! The RS-505 they had set up at their booth was pretty sweet.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about that man. I bet your heart sank when that happened.
Good luck with the repair and then the 'reunion' with your refreshed 8P!

Yeah, it's possible! I was on the opposite side of the hall. This was the pair of tables I had set up for my shop:

That ought to be about the same as in the 106? I'm pretty sure most Matsushita SK-361xx keybeds that Roland used in that early-to-mid 80's era were built about the same. Roland didn't really use anything new for a while after that, maybe mid-90's?
