What is the weirdest music style you heard (of)?
Just wondering what you guys think is music and what is not?

I find it hard to enjoy Extratone as exemplified in the above video, but maybe I'm just too old...

Splittercore and Extratone are very extreme indeed. Not my cup of tea.
Reason Studio's 11.3 / Cockos Reaper 6.82 / Cakewalk By Bandlab / Orion 8.6

extratone... when the beat is so fast it just turns into a note.
that's got to be the biggest troll genre, ever.

Crikey Carruthers!
I've been a celebrated exponent of 'Chap-Hop' for many years and never even knew it.
Mind you you only have to record a fart these days and it would fall into some obscure 'genre'. GasCore perhaps. I did have a bad experience with that though whilst trying to record a massive drop. I couldn't get the bottom end solid enough.

GasCore - we gotta make that happen!
I know that feeling. Just call it a phase and you'll feel better about itmotuscott wrote: Also all the songs I make in Reason taste the same.

I would have thought it was the other way around, but what do I know4filegate wrote:Gangsta Rap & Hip Hop Bling Bling was the Origin of Alternative hip hop e.g. De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest. They blur genres drawing equally from funk and pop/rock, as well as jazz, soul, reggae, and even folk
I was thinking of loading template, change the bpm to 1001 and then see what happens...Kombucha wrote:That said, some of the examples in that video are just out there. 'Danger Music' is so dumb. But the aformentioned Extratone is interesting. Maybe we should have a 999 BPM Reason song challengeOstermilk wrote:

So that's like 63936 notes/min?Kombucha wrote:Oh man, I'm fooling around now with this Extratone concept, and it's both fascinating and frightening what can be done with two simple Kong hits and some LPF/HPF passes. I've set the tempo to 999BPM and each hit is 1/64th apartSorped wrote: I was thinking of loading template, change the bpm to 1001 and then see what happens...
There's my excuse for wasting a part of my weekend when I should be doing other stuff.

I think I'm gonna mess with this later, sounds too intriguing...
What in the... How do you even rad that?siln wrote:Black midi also
Wow, thanks, that was interesting.Kombucha wrote:Ok so here's my quick 10 minute first attempt at something.
Using only two Kong hits, a clap an a BD2 from the default patch.
For something a bit more interesting, it starts at 120BPM and the tempo ramps up to 999 BPM, and stays at that tempo for the rest of the track.
Only FX are a delay unit and sweeping the LPF/HPF
Rock and Roll !
It goes well with synthesiaSorped wrote:What in the... How do you even rad that?siln wrote:Black midi also

Noting beats the random craziness of some denpa music:
Or some real masterfully screwed up tracks:
Igorrr is also pretty weird:
Ryoji Ikeda is also doing some serious audio visual exploration of sonic space:
