Just wondering what you guys think is music and what is not?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2P0H5a797Y

I find it hard to enjoy Extratone as exemplified in the above video, but maybe I'm just too old...

Splittercore and Extratone are very extreme indeed. Not my cup of tea.

extratone... when the beat is so fast it just turns into a note.

that's got to be the biggest troll genre, ever.

Crikey Carruthers!

I've been a celebrated exponent of 'Chap-Hop' for many years and never even knew it.

Mind you you only have to record a fart these days and it would fall into some obscure 'genre'. GasCore perhaps. I did have a bad experience with that though whilst trying to record a massive drop. I couldn't get the bottom end solid enough.

I know that feeling. Just call it a phase and you'll feel better about it ;)

Gangsta Rap & Hip Hop Bling Bling was the Origin of Alternative hip hop e.g. De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest. They blur genres drawing equally from funk and pop/rock, as well as jazz, soul, reggae, and even folk

That said, some of the examples in that video are just out there. 'Danger Music' is so dumb. But the aformentioned Extratone is interesting. Maybe we should have a 999 BPM Reason song challenge
I was thinking of loading template, change the bpm to 1001 and then see what happens...

Oh man, I'm fooling around now with this Extratone concept, and it's both fascinating and frightening what can be done with two simple Kong hits and some LPF/HPF passes. I've set the tempo to 999BPM and each hit is 1/64th apart :o

There's my excuse for wasting a part of my weekend when I should be doing other stuff.
So that's like 63936 notes/min?

I think I'm gonna mess with this later, sounds too intriguing...

Using only two Kong hits, a clap an a BD2 from the default patch.

For something a bit more interesting, it starts at 120BPM and the tempo ramps up to 999 BPM, and stays at that tempo for the rest of the track.

Only FX are a delay unit and sweeping the LPF/HPF

Rock and Roll !
Wow, thanks, that was interesting.

You've made the right decision to abandon it. Since my first post today I've descended into a dark, dark world of sound that I fear there is no escape from.
If I was a religious man, I would pray for you!

Noting beats the random craziness of some denpa music:

Or some real masterfully screwed up tracks:

Igorrr is also pretty weird:

Ryoji Ikeda is also doing some serious audio visual exploration of sonic space:
