Re: (Ambient) Marbles

I like the fact that the music is unpredictable and wandering, but I think that wandering quality is also why my attention strayed from the music both times I listened to it.

Re: (Melodic)Melodie Idea

It skips along very pleasantly. I think it needs something to give it an extra dimension though. My choice would be vocals singing something unexpectedly dark and completely at odds with the happy melody - how about a member of the army reciting his daily routine, which is to drive into work and the...

(alternative/indie rock) Like Life's Like EP

Hi all, A new label (Short Songs for Quick Thinkers http://www.ss4qt.com/) just released three of my tracks on CD, and download. I put links to them on here during the mixing process, so a big thanks to anyone who listened and commented at the time. You can listen to pre-mastered versions of them on...

Re: (Enka, possibly) Edo Relics

A nice song; when I listen to the nice vocals there's something that made Alan Parsons project pop up in my mind About competing claims of social harmony and personal expression...is that about any cultural clash between social rules and extrovert behavior? I remember reading a forum post about cha...

Re: (alt rock perhaps) Long Dead Childe / Patriots, Be Upstanding

Nice Stuff, I like your guitartone, I would personally start "Long Dead Childe" around 0:54 or so and skip the long intro. Thanks for the feedback Lowas. I agree the intro could be shortened, or cut, and I did actually cut 10 seconds from it, but as it's a cover of a mate's song I'll leave it in fo...

(alt rock perhaps) Long Dead Childe / Patriots, Be Upstanding

Hi all, Any listens and comments/feedback more than welcome. I finished these quickly within a self-imposed deadline last year, but now I've taken time to remix and master them, so hopefully they sound better. https://soundcloud.com/peter-branscombe/long-dead-chile https://soundcloud.com/peter-brans...

Re: (electro/dub) vocal juggling

I think it would benefit from some variation in the drums - they don't really change throughout. Besides varying the feel occasionally, I reckon you could drop them out completely at times - the music is very rhythmical on its own and much more interesting.

Re: (Rap Metal) - Sickan

Very accurate genre description! The playing sounds accomplished, but it's a bit too repetitive for me; it doesn't really go anywhere - sounds like you enjoyed playing it so much the first time that you repeated it a couple of times. I think you could make it more interesting if the rap was differen...

Re: (Electronic) Naut

Only got time to listen to two (Kaleidoscope and Minimalize). I like the music, particularly the gushing mid-section of K. Nice mixtures of sounds in both tracks. I'm not a fan of glitchy drums though, and although yours aren't that glitchy I find some of them too abrasive (e.g. the high-pitched bas...

(Enka, possibly) Edo Relics

Hi all, This is a song about one aspect of Japanese culture: the competing claims of social harmony and personal expression. But don't let that put you off! I've reimxed it and mastered it, for want of a less professional phrase. https://soundcloud.com/peter-branscombe/edo-relics Thanks for any list...

Re: (Chill House) Forgotten Words

Nice bongos. Lots of different sounds going on - maybe too many at times; must have been quite difficult to mix. When the piano comes in, for example, the different strands seem to be competing for attention. I'd be tempted to listen see if all the instrumentation was necessary at that point. Just f...

Re: (House) There is a message for you

Your name on Soundcloud made me laugh - radio friendly; I like it.

Nice samples. Can't help thinking you should have the angry bloke first, saying, "What are you looking at, butthead?" followed by the intimidated one answering, "There is a message for you."

Re: (rockish) Welcomed

i like it man. Got a bit of the Smiths about it. The structure and progression of the song is really strong and i think the lyrics are great :) I think the mix works really well in some parts but also there were a few moments during the vocal harmonies that i felt like the vocals were sort of compe...

Re: (Funky Downbeat) Audiotic - How was I to know

Nice keyboards - sound and playing. I like the way some of the music is jumping back and forward across the stereo spectrum. One negative for me was that it sounds a bit over-compressed - there doesn't seem to be enough light and shade or space in the music. Or maybe it'd just sound better in a club...

Re: (hip hop/beats) Beats that were gathering dust

They all sound really good. My favourite hip hop is always based on jazzy sounds. I like the bass in the first one, and the beat drops out at a good time to keep it interesting. The guitar twiddling's nice too. When the spoken word comes in (around 1:45) maybe you could lower some of the EQ of the c...

Something that hasn't been mentioned so far is the early reflections of the reverb - reducing them should make the piano sound further away.

Hello all, https://soundcloud.com/peter-branscombe/welcomed I redid the vocals and drums a bit, and remixed and mastered it. Re: (Jazz) I Remember You

Great. I like it, and enjoyed not being able to follow the rhythm, despite your explanation. Maybe the snare/brushes could be lower in the quieter parts, to make the breathiness of the flute more audible - I think that would help emphasise the contrast between the mellow and the manic.

Well done. I generally prefer songs with singing. Your vocals match the mood and the music well. Reminded me very much of Lawrence and early Felt. E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X44h5VA ... YFTDo6wsY9

Refreshingly non-generic and interesting. Some of the words could be a bit louder - I wanted to hear what you were saying but some of it was obscured by the music.

Re: (dark & dreamy) Ruzz

Good work! A headlong adrenaline-fuelled rush into somewhere. I wondered if some of it sounded a little over-processed because I couldn't make out what you were singing early on, and some parts sounded a bit hissy, but overall it works really well.

Re: (Fantasy Piano) Mesmerize (WIP)

The hi-hat sounds too loud and distracting to me. Since it's a piano-driven track I think it would benefit from the more of the mid-range and lower end of the piano being audible. Nice intro.
