Re: Producing through "mastering" chain?
I always start a song "clean" whithout anything on the master. But I typically add stuff like masterbus compression and a limiter once the song starts to take form. I might adjust the settings along the way when I'm working on a song. I know there are different opinions on the matter, but this is th...

Re: Learning a new instrument
Just bought myself one of these. It's called an Udu drum. It's really fun to play.
Man I'm gonna have to a break from all the instrument purchases for a while. It's getting out of hand.

Re: Do you get a lot of use out of the Reason players?
As far as players go, the two that has gotten the most use for me are Beatmap and Evolution. But I typically only use what they give me as a starting point and then I tweak, make variations and turn it into my own thing.

Re: Learning a new instrument
A little update  Got myself an ocarina about a week ago. So now I have a small collection of new instruments. I spent quite a bit of money on all these, but I have zero regrets. I'm having so much fun with them and I switch between them constantly. Having never played a wind instrument be...

Re: Kalimba Practise :)
I got a little kalimba once and soon gave up - sampled it and use it all the time now! Your playing is nice and even, something I struggled with. My main problem is like with guitar, I really needed to build up some callouses to play more than a few minutes at a time! I have a producer friend with ...

I like the bird like noises in the background. It really adds to the bright and uplifting feeling of the track.

Kalimba Practise :)
Some of you may have seen it in another thread I posted. I've bought myself some new instruments. One of them is a kalimba. I've just felt a sudden urge to play some physical acoustic instruments. And specifically instruments that I've never played before. I've tried to practise a bit here and there...

Re: (House/techno/trance) melancholy
Nice track Popey. I like the atmosphere/mood of the track. I do think it has a slightly melancolic feel to it. The only thing I didn't care for was the vocals, but that's just personal preference. I don't mind the notes themselves, I just can't seem to into the overly pitched vocal production style...

I like it. Nice energy. I think the mix/production style fits the music. Not everything needs to be super polished.

Re: Learning a new instrument
Yeah I certainly had no plans to buy a new instrument at that price originally. An instrument I have no prior experience with. Not sure I can justify it completely. But I have the money. And I want it. So I figured, fuck it let's just buy it. You only live once. I reckon you should enti...

Re: Learning a new instrument
Well, you can DIY one for far less money if you're willing to invest the time instead. e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVedQwbduQ0 Unless you already have the proper tools needed I suspect it won’t be much cheaper. Especially after all the inevitable trial and error. But I can certainly see th...

Re: Learning a new instrument
BTW, I almost fell off my chair at the price of those Rav Vast Drums. I could tell from the pics that they weren't going to be cheap but even allowing for that I was more than surprised at the prices. I make it about $120 per note  Yeah I certainly had no plans to buy a new instrument at that ...

Awesome! Can’t wait to hear it all! Those look a lot like hand pan drums, the Afro house and organic house crowds are crazy about those. What’s the difference? They have similarities but aren't the same. Hand pan drums doesn't have any cut out tongues. But all these seem to belong to the same family.

Learning a new instrument
During my Christmas holiday I suddenly felt a strong urge to check out new acoustic instruments. I suspect it's some sort of reaction to constantly hearing about all the AI and technology advancements. Going back to play acoustic instruments and learning to draw with simple pen and paper seems like ...

I like the mood of the track.
Looking forward to hear you sing on it. I don't think I've heard your vocals on any other track.

Re: Which RE for emulating guitar solos?
This is an old song from about six years ago, so I can’t remember the details. But I do remember using FM4 combined with Scream4 for the guitar lead sound. Not even an amp sim in other words. I don’t think it was that important to me to have the lead sound exactly like a guitar, but I for sure went ...
