Re: Anyone using the McDSP EQ's?
About 2 months ago I downloaded and tried every EQ available for Reason. Before that I wasn't sure if there would be any difference between different EQs and if there were, how much difference. So for 4 days (about 16 hours total) I compared all the EQs and wrote down which I preferred. I found that...

Re: Red Rock Sound's Red70 Song Challenge | The Announcement
Hey, there's something wrong: When i open my Red 70 song i submitted, all the sounds sound off. The vocals don't match with the synths and the synths don't sound the same as before. I don't even know if the Reason file I sent, sounds off or not. Any idea what has happened to the file? My rendered w...

Re: (Electronic metal) Drones - Synthetic Flesh
I'll put two other songs from this EP if anyone wants to listen. "New World" which is a pretty simple melodic song with bursts of aggression here and there. "Catharsis" which is like putting your head in a blender for 3 minutes straight :). If you don't like blastbeats you're probably not gonna enjo...

Re: (Electronic metal) Drones - Synthetic Flesh
I just listened to it again, and it really does sound awesome. What are some of the drum sounds you used? Appreciate it. I can't remember the exact samples but since many of them are layered and put through compression, EQ, reverb, sometimes distortion they're probably pretty unrecognizable anyway....

Re: (Electronic metal) Drones - Synthetic Flesh
Yeah this is great dude! Love the machine-gun kicks. As already mentioned, very Fear Factory. On the subject of Electronic Metal, you should check out my labelmate, The Algorithm. Nice mix of glitch and guitar stuff. He's an Ableton dude though. But yeah, really nice work! Thanks. I've heard some o...

Re: (Electronic metal) Drones - Synthetic Flesh
Do you wanna run us through some of the things you did for this song? Sure. Without getting into too much detail, here's how I've worked with sounds overall. Synths: Lots of layering, it doesn't matter if it's leads, chords, riff sounds or whatever, there's always more than one synth playing each p...

Re: Snakebite, pitch bend wheel?
can't you just put it in a combinator and use that pitch bend wheel? That should be feasible. Yes that works too, thanks. I know these things might seem obvious but I suck at a lot of the technical stuff in Reason, even the most basic stuff sometimes. I've always used the pitch bend wheel in the sy...

Wow, that's super cool of Red Rock Sound. Much appreciated.
This was my first time entering a song challenge but not the last, that's for sure. Love the idea of these song challenges.
Congrats everyone!

Re: (Electronic metal) Drones - Synthetic Flesh
Hey! I didn't know Electronic Metal was a thing, or did you just invent it? I always thought some dubstep tunes were like electronic heavy metal, but here you've made the real thing. Really cool style. And no RE's? I'm impressed. I especially like the really fast breaks with the blast beats. Some c...

This sounds really pro...very inspiring music. I used to listen to something similar many years ago: Fear Factory Thanks. I've listened to Fear Factory too in the past and I'm sure some of those influences has creeped in to this project. Maybe not so much with the electronic elements but more from ...

Snakebite, pitch bend wheel? (Problem solved)
At the bottom of the synth there's a bend knob. The manual says this: "Bend: Sets the range when using the pitch bend wheel. 100% is original V1.0 operation." But my question is, where is that pitch bend wheel they are talking about? On just about every synth it's up in the left corner. Am I missing...

(Electronic metal) Drones - Synthetic Flesh
This is from my instrumental electronic metal project Synthetic Flesh. When I made this I didn't own any rack extensions yet so this is all made with native devices from Reason 7.

Here's my entry. This is my second track written for a song challenge. These competitions are great for trying out new synths. This one was a lot harder to figure out than Red70.

Re: Blamsoft Zero Hybrid Synth Song Challenge | The Announcement
Is it ok if I use another limiter outside of Reason for mastering? It's just to get the volume up without distorting the sound. Everything else is mixed in Reason. I don't have any decent mastering tools in Reason and I don't want to buy a new limiter just for a song challenge. I know it says "no e...

Re: Favorite distortion units?
Softube Saturation Knob. Love it, can't believe it's for free. It can be everything from very subtle to really distorted. I use it all the time on drums and bass sounds.
Scream is great for a lot of things, but it's very much on or off with that device. Saturation Knob doesn't have to be that obvious.

Re: Anyone using Snakebite
I use Snakebite from time to time but not so much for leads or pad sounds. I use it more for a distorted, gritty sound, mostly on bass or stuff that are meant to sound broken or screamy.
For big pads or fat leads I would say Antidote is better, at least if you want a cleaner sound.

Re: CV, I don't use it. Am I missing out?
I really don't understand people who say other DAW's are more open than Reason. Reason has CV, how much more open do you want? There's endless possibilities. True that Reason can do some unique things, but I was thinking about the obvious stuff, all the vsts that are out there that we can't use. I ...

Re: CV, I don't use it. Am I missing out?
just a general response: I dont understand the appeal of reason if not for CV. Basically Reason looks and feels like fun. That's it. I can't say I feel the same way about other DAWs. They might be "better" and more open but I just don't feel as inspired and creative in other programs. Might be a du...

Re: CV, I don't use it. Am I missing out?
I just bought Pulsar. After looking through some videos of CV type devices I thought it looked pretty straightforward and easy to use. I do have Little LFO but Pulsar for some reason just looked more intuitive to me. And also it was on sale for 15 euro instead of 49, so if I don't end up using it ve...
