Re: DJ Shadow keys
I love DJ Shadow and Endtroducing... is my favorite album. But he's sampling a Finnish jazz record from 1974. The sound is credited as 'electric piano' but google's telling me it's a Fender Rhodes. Just from my ears it's being run through a Leslie speaker, because I don't think there were any phaso...

DJ Shadow keys
Hey all, anyone have any ideas on where to start in emulating the keys on this awesome DJ Shadow track. I have Expense, Antidote and VK2 synths. Thanks as always.

Re: $29 Abbey Road Vinyl
I'm trying to download the iZotope Vinyl and get Error message #1638.Anyone else getting that? (I like the idea of paying $0 rather then $29 or $249 for something that doesn't sound that great tbo).

Re: Reggae
I ran it through some of my devices... here's some things i saw... - Your stereo field (M/S) is HUGE. too HUGE. It's killing the BASS. QEStereoSplitter, Pro-Q and UpStereoPro - 70-90% reduction. Your sides peaking near unity. Too much, i think. Lower it and listen to the Bass. I think you'll agree....

Gwaan! Awesome first mix. (Kick is off to my ears around 2:26-2:34.) Respect and Manners. Good Sound. THis vid goes with the track me thinks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCERfa8LcS4 Thanks man, yeah I was adding some depth late night and noticed the kicks issue. Hoping to post an updated mix so...

First mix at my tribute to this enduring genre. Still working on the production although this will do for now. . Vocals from free Ras Kitchen sample. Samples piano loop ang guitar stabs - should have played them myself but I was struggling for the right sound. Bass, Drums mine (NN19 & Breaktweaker)....

Re: Izotope Breaktweaker+Stutteredit on sale for E90!!
I just picked this up, last day to get it at this price for now. I am totally blown away by Breaktweaker I have to say. The Presets are incredible, and I found it quite easy to dive in and start creating beats. Drum Bass Percussion Synth all glued together perfectly and sounded better than anything ...

Thor Thor Thor Thor Thor Thor Thor. I've spent some time tonight playing around with this superb out of the box synth, after investing in a few others such as Expanse, VK2 and Antidote and largely ignoring it for the first 12 months of my Reason experience. I'm actually blown away by the clarity and...

Re: PunchBDRE or Sub-Boom Bass?
I have both. I use sub boom bass WAY more than punch. I rarely use punch; I've probably used it fewer than 20 times. I got both as part of the synth rig bundle. I really like sub boom, but I'm not going after kick drum sounds. If it's kick drum sounds you want, punch is probably your better choice....

Re: PunchBDRE or Sub-Boom Bass?
Oh, you want something that punches AND sub-booms? Are you MAD??? Seriously, I would suggest clearing out a couple hours of your time and trial them both. Only you can determine which is going to be better for your needs. I have both. Both are useful if you are into presets. If you like programming...

Re: VST Free Zone
Yeah I noticed some weird bahvior when using some VSTs. Not like high DSP crackles, but like drop outs and mechanical signal interruption. Kinda like a bad cable being moved around. Scratchy fuzziness. Yeah that is exactly how I'd describe it, except it interrupts the signal so badly it becomes uni...

VST Free Zone
So, after the initial VST inspired excitement I went ahead an downloaded a bunch that were recommended on here and elsewhere (I did some research, but apparently not enough). Fun to play with, sure. But, and this is the killer - if I integrate ANY of them in a 20 track 'Default Template' on working ...

PunchBDRE or Sub-Boom Bass?
Anyone who has had experience with these Re's I'd love to hear your thoughts. Advantages of one over the other? I'm looking for flexibility but ability to really make the kicks bite and stand out when required, as well as getting that nice sub rumble - so you see my problem!?

Re: Studio Desks
I need to think about these options as I just finished a mix and drums are way too prominent, something isn't right. Thanks though, I'll see what I can do. By way of example (pretty sure I did a lot more wrong in the mix, but it sounded well balanced from the studio monitors) Have you compared simi...

Applied Acoustic Systems Ultra Analogue Sessions Synth
Anyone had a play with the Ultra Analogue Sessions synth? I trialled it last night and managed to achieve a nice rich Daft Punk esque sound fairly quickly. It seems a bit limited in features but I am really liking the analogue feel. Is there any benefit do you think to something like this over Re sy...

Re: Studio Desks
I have part of a large elongated rectangular 70's sunroom with too many windows and awful acoustics to play with. I guess there are always ways to improve it. Heavy curtains with blackout can work some wondered, but in a room with lots of windows... imagine that might get pretty warm :D. Maybe hess...

The Ample Guitar free versions can cause issues which stop sound coming from your AI requiring save, close, reopen which is annoying. I will be deleting them.

I'm fully expecting problems downloading/Licensing/Installing, and so I'm looking for tips on how to avoid the usual pitfalls (whatever they are). Any tips appreciated. Assume that I've read t...
