Re: Audio Output Meter (bottom bar) VS. VU Big Meter (Top in The Rack)
Yes , the red LED lights to the far right are clip indicators. Which can mean your track may be going over the 0 dB by a few dB , but it won’t show you by how much your going over by . Selig gain Rack Extension will let you know . Hope this helps OK gotchu thank you for the info. The weird thing is...

Re: Audio Output Meter (bottom bar) VS. VU Big Meter (Top in The Rack)
The meter your probably looking at it the VU metering type which give you average volume. That meter will go into the red . The other metering type is peak . When you lowered the average meter your track will sound low . Plus 3 dB on the VU meter is not a bad thing necessarily. This can be confusin...

Re: Production Tips
Try and learn the info you need in the right order . For example, don’t skip to multiband compression or parallel compression if you don’t understand basic compression . The first thing you need to do is listen to a lot of music and get the feel of it . Do not get to caught up in plugins. Biggest mi...

Re: SSL style mixer, visual or modelled too?
Just to remind everyone the the SSL mixer in Reason was modelled on the SSL 9000k . Which was a clean mixer not coloured . I think some users believe its modelled after the E or G . Would be pretty nice to have a button per channel to toggle between K/E/G modelling. Yes , that would be sweet . With...

Re: 'Tell me about Arrangement' (Questions)
I Would try listening to a track you like the arrangement of and follow the arrangement . Then change parts if you want to that will make the arrangement slightly different . Listen for the : Drums bass vocals lead special effects The roles they play in the track . also listen for : Intro verses pre...

Just an idea , why not try volume automation on the ostinato riff instead . Just turn it down a little when the counter melody .

Re: Reason SSL vs Waves/ Others
For users who want "color", each user will have their own preferred color, and might not even want it on all channels.. Adding colour would be an option . Unlike in the past you had the character as part of the sound weather you wanted it or not . At least with this option you can turn it off and o...

Re: Reason SSL vs Waves/ Others
@selig I was just thinking about something which was 'retro/vintage' but maybe a bit pants. Don't worry, you're not missing anything - I fed this into the Google Humour Rater, and as it turns out, it's not in the least bit funny. Indeed I read your post "pre coffee" yesterday morning and didn't mak...

Re: Is there a DAW that shows audio affected by compression in the sequencer?
Do you mean something like this ? keep watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awvv0rujo68 That's the closest. What I really wanted though was audio recorded in the sequencer then adjust the compressor and see how it adjusts the audio wave but in retrospect, I never thought about the audio already...

Re: Is there a DAW that shows audio affected by compression in the sequencer?
Both those two options make sense to us, the Fabfilter is 'live at this specific time' while Selig Curve method is the track and display (so history display). Good pointers you two ;) The video i posted , shows the result in the sequencer . Where the Fabfilter shows the result within the plugin . B...

Re: Help!!! Jazz
I've been tasked to create some cheery jazzy stuff for the youtubez!! I'm not used to programming jazz, but I have a jazz background. I have the instrumentation down... Acoustic drums, double bass, piano...I doubt I could program a convincing trumpet! I'm thinking of grabbing some jazz progre...

This will mean the hardware version of an SSL is not a Pro mixing console . It too only has 4 bands and one filter slope .

Re: Help with vocal sound
i would try high filter first to get rid of the lows and some low mids . Then heavy on the compression , bringing out the breaths more . Then try a little high shelf . It`s kind of like a telephone effect to me . And last but not least some distortion or maybe saturation . Just a guess

Re: Do You Use Channel Strip Plugins?
i only read the first page of the thread so apologies if i restate anything that's been said already. for some reason over the years i've gotten in the habit of using channel strip plugins mostly on acoustic and vocal sources. for a long time the softube tube tech plugins were my go-to processing f...
