I had the same problem . I had to uninstall Reason 10.4 and reinstall 10.3 . A few days later in installed Reason 10.4 and everything was fine .

I not being funny , but why wouldn't propellerhead make a video tutorial where someone is using Compact and making a banging track . We`re becoming very visual these days . They have these people talking about how good it is . Show me how good it is please , dont just tell me . my 2 cents

As diminished mentioned you can use the SSL Shelving EQ`s . the advantage you have over the 14:2 mixer is that you have a variable frequency knob . which ranges from 22k - 1.5k on the highs and 40hz - 600hz on the lows .
