Most other forums I visit have a 'hover to see OP preview' function that would be great to have here.

Re: What makes Reason a great “Idea Starter”?
Simplicity / ease of use... more specifically the absense of the now how do I do that? pauses and research that can squelch creative momentum, which I experience more often with my other more capable but complex DAW. But it's a trade-off... As I get deeper into production and tweaks, the Reason answ...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen - piece of shit? D :
The nexus of a great interface is how solid its driver is, across decades of development. This reflects my experience from a few years ago... after starting to get occasional glitches and dropouts with my older generation Focusrite I upgraded to RME and have had zero issues since, with multiple DAW...

Re: AI - Cheating or just evolution?
In a weird way Amazon have recently taken the next step towards that but with existing songs rather than generated ones. The cut down version of Amazon Music that is part of a Prime subscription was "upgraded" a few months ago. Previously you could listen to any of 2 million songs - a subset of the...

Re: Reason speed / stutter ... upgrade time???
FWIW a couple of years ago I squashed stutters with Reason on an older PC by upgrading the audio interface (from an earlier generation Focusrite to an RME), from apparently more efficient audio drivers structure. If you're in the market for a new interface anyway, you might want to try that first to...

Re: Anyone using AI art?
I just made this video for an original song using DALL-E for still image generation. It's DIY-ish, but nevertheless demonstrates how AI art will be useful for people like me, inept at graphic art, to express ideas visually.

Re: (Indie Glam Pop?) Port Streets - Dream Girl, Decide
That's a great tune, and nice production! I'm curious about your process to 'send out for drums' (which really add to the integrated feel of the song). Did you already know someone vs some job shop, did they play live and convert to samples, etc. etc.? Thanks man-- Usually I finish most of the trac...

Re: flattest studio monitors?
+1 for SonarWorks. Even though it doesn't improve your mix or your ears, there's peace of mind knowing none of your listening devices and positions are deceiving you. (Using Adam A7X monitors and HD650s, but I've also used SonarWorks to adjust a rehearsal room to review 'live' mixes.) BUT - a room ...

Re: The artistic process or whatever
I find every song I write goes through a tortuous soap opera of giddy anticipation, love, betrayal, resentment, hope, and reconciliation. Since I expect it, I just work through the 'you suck!' stages until my love returns.

Re: My dog left this world yesterday
FWIW the last verse of this song was for our dog that passed in 2018. The point of the song: these past loves still live on, animated in your memories. (After a year wait we got two new dogs, for twice the love).

Re: Vocal Booth Lyrics display
Partial solution: Use an app like BandHelper, which is focused on displaying lyrics (and other notation) on a tablet (predominant use case is live play). It supports various MIDI triggers, so a MIDI external output from the DAW to the tablet would allow for some limited synchronization. BandHelper d...

Re: (Drum & Bass) Nine Inch Nails - Closer (RBM's D&B Violation Mix)
Nice job! I found the vocal mix pretty good with headphones. It doesn't need a lot given the cultural strength of the original, giving your remix enough context it need only 'suggest' the original to succeed.

Re: Here Are Some Cool Logic Pro X + Reason Rack Tips
Convincing argument for Logic. I'm gonna have to move on since Reason is obviously not going to accommodate my old school workflow, electro mechanical instruments and human players. Definitely not looking forward to learning another DAW. How's Logic for editing across multiple audio tracks like a m...
