Aren't we all?

If they wanted to build a huge web server driven project they had the chance to allow users to share patches and Reason songs on their website. But instead they wanted to be Soundcloud for people who sing into their phones.

Re: RE GUI Design.

Ask one of the guys in the thread linked above. There are some good designers there. Basically, hire a pro. You can't be good at everything and it might not be as expensive as you think. If you are able to put together a RE then you've got some talent at programming so find someone else who has spen...

Re: What Features Subtractor has that other synths do not have?

It's the oscillators that are unusual as they use Phase Offset Modulation: Phase Offset Modulation A unique feature of the Subtractor Synthesizer is the oscillator phase offset. By using this feature you can create complex waveforms by subtracting or multiplying a waveform with a phase offset copy o...

Re: Output Switch?

Sadly not. I'd like a simple A/B output switch also. Good for comparing or switching between two FX chains.

Peff's Directre will do switching well but for multiple outputs. It isn't a simple A/B switch though: sometimes you just want something that does a single, simple job.

Re: What Features Reason has and others DAWs do not have?

I forgot the self containment thing which is a biggie for me. Has anyone tried to reload old Songs from DAWs like Ableton or Cubase? That can be quite a mess. This is the single most important thing that keeps me in the Reason environment. Live is better for sequencing and live jamming and VSTs are...

Re: Now I understand why many Reason 7 users don't upgrade to R8

I thought Audiomatic came with a previous version, like R7? https://ask.audio/articles/reason-7-what-is-the-audiomatic-retro-transformer So in reality R8 had less to offer. R8 looks more tempting now since they added things but at release it was a bit underwhelming for people who don't play guitar l...

Re: What Features Reason has and others DAWs do not have?

Blimey how sad am I digging Reason on a Reason user forum? I should be regularly seen to be kicking it to death like all those that are much better informed than me about what tools I should be using. This is a pro-Reason thread about things Reason can do that other DAWs can't. There's nothing nega...

Re: "Reason update" emails from PH

Couldn't agree more with point 1. Remote is still at version 1.0 and since then certain features have been removed so it's actually going backwards. At the time I imagined (wrongly) that they might provide a companion editor app that allowed musicians to edit their maps. I was wrong, the only way to...

Re: Do You Get Replies From Propellerhead?

It has been an eye opener for me since officially joining the Reason owners club how much people expect from future updates. I know there's competition and everyone's free to move platform etc but it does seem that music software gets this treatment that other products don't. It may be because of t...

Re: Do You Get Replies From Propellerhead?

A good example of where PH might want to break their silence is the removal of the Line6 devices (an issue that doesn't affect me). They've told users that the devices will be removed but that is all. Wouldn't it be better if they'd given some indication of what is going to happen? Will the device s...

Re: Do You Get Replies From Propellerhead?

Feature requests - being a software developer myself the most courteous answer I could imagine would be "Thanks, we'll consider your idea." A more honest answer might be "ORLY?" or "Right..." ;) Starting to discuss the pros and cons or actual implementation problems/details would be a waste of time...

Where would be the impact if everybody would know what is coming? So that the people who are waiting for certain features can plan their next year or two. Some might decide to purchase certain software, others to switch DAW. Acting all mysterious when there are so many different expectations isn't ...

Re: Do You Get Replies From Propellerhead?

Exactly - and if the DID give us a road map we'd batch like hell each time they failed in any way to deliver on the "promise", no matter how many times they informed us it was "only a guideline". Even RE developers that don't get a product to market within two months of a "teaser" get treated like ...

I've had replies back when beta testing but other than that no. On the Feature Suggestion forum I never once received a reply from PH. To my knowledge very few people did. Re: Why are there so few HP filters?

The same goes for the filter in Kong. The half rack devices are good single use utilities whereas the bigger devices are more creative devices with multiple uses. I think the DDL could be tweaked to add this useful feature. And the same goes for the ECF, it is a nice simple utility filter that could...

Thor iOS was a good move. Pro capabilities and also brought in some income. Take wasn't IMO. Aimed at amateurs and given away for free. Sadly Thor iOS hasn't been updated in quite some while and we haven't seen any other similar devices. Redrum iOS? Or Kong?

Re: Why are there so few HP filters?

On a side note, how about a DDL Delay that doesn't raise the volume when set to 100% Wet? Someone really does need to do that! https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/titus-bbd-delay-line/ Some of these things are so basic they should be built into the software though. The DDL is a useful and simple...

Re: Why are there so few HP filters?

Oh but the R1 devices are perfect as they are and should never be changed! Not really, they've been due updates for 15 years now, thank goodness Redrum got a little TLC at long last. Yes the ECF-42 should have more modes. Or should have 12 years ago. I think for some time the only way to do a HPF in...

Re: "Reason update" emails from PH

One problem is that PH have a tendency to abandon their technologies and not support users who want to get involved and support their platform. Remote support is appalling and there is no way for users to share their creations via PH or their website. These problems are 100% within their control but...

To my knowledge the developer PDFs aren't up to date. Even the Remote webpage wasn't up to date until a month ago!! How much effort does it take to edit a webpage? Nektar's controllers weren't added to that list until October of this year despite being available since Q1 2012!

In a word: dismal.

Re: Can we have Ableton Link please?

I agree that Remote developer support is dismally bad. I've some experience hacking together Remote maps and as someone who just wants to be a user I wish it were simple to edit maps as often the manufacturer maps are made by people who don't use the software. I have my suspicions that PH see Remote...
