One of the, er, reasons I switched to Reason from Cubase was because I didn't particularly like VSTs. In particular, opening old songs was always a pain if I'd moved to another computer - missing VSTs, licenses, folder locations.

With Reason everything opens without any hassle whatsoever.

Good post, and I totally agree. I love the fact that Reason can be as simple or as complex to use as you want. You can have no paid-for rack extensions whatsoever, just 4 tracks - redrum/kong, subtractor bass, thor synth and vox audio - and you still have a wealth of creative possibilities in front ...

...and not only that, but it changes the tempo of the song to the tempo of imported file. Very annoying.

I'm a long time Reason user, and will continue to be so. But I've been considering investing in the cheapest version of Ableton Live 9 (79 euros). Any Reason users here using it? Primarily as a way of recording audio loops and writing tunes. Then importing into Reason afterwards. Would you recommend...

Hi, Just wondering what you use for viewing Reason on a single monitor? I'm currently using a Macbook Pro, and a Windows laptop before that. I've been using Mixer and Tracks on the left half of the monitor, and instruments on the right half (so that only one side of the instrument rack is ever used)...
