Native Instruments, VST2 to VST3 migration... Major Issues and Compatibility Concerns
Hey there, curious Ever since the new NI branding came in along with their VST3 updates, every song that has native instruments vsts (2 or 3) within my reason songs are giving me problems. Some recent include: -NI Vst effects windows that are smaller than the plugin so i can't see the parameters -Vs...

Re: Offline authorization will be discontinued for R11 and earlier - This is serious
PPS: Anyone who doesn't have the key will no longer be able to authorize online Record (online authorization Record was disabled a year or two ago). This trend is alarming for owners of Reason 12.5.3, Reason 11 and below. Reason 11 may also be disabled from online login. This is BAD I think the rec...

Re: It was 20 years ago today…
I was using fruity loops and then a friend showed me Reason 1.0. I immediately preferred it and then by 2.0 I was permanently addicted. I stuck with 2.5 for awhile and then eventually bought Reason 5 and Record and have updated every version since.

Re: VST2 vs VST3. What are the differences? Which one is better?
The fact that the vst 3 version doesn't automatically replace the vst 2 instance is what ultimately will make me regret ever getting involved with the vst bandwagon (despite having quite a few plugins I love). I should have stuck to RE only. I'm actually really concerned that I once again have to ma...

Re: Reason 12.5.0 Released (VST3)
Is this accurate? because if so, this puts us all in a bad position for old file recovery in the future. My concern is that if the VST3 doesn't simply seamlessly replace the VST2 version, than we are basically going to eventually lose access to years of songs, no? I'm honestly a bit concerned about...

Re: Getting rid of double VSTs in the browser?
Everything RS does is like the monkey paw wish. It's really terrible how bad this company is at fully implementing any sort of feature. Well the choice for them here is (1) roll out VST3 compatibility sooner, with improvements still to come, or (2) wait until everything's perfect, and roll out VST3...

Re: New Roadmap (December 2022)
I'd say that shows just how much he was committed to the previous visions for this software. As am I. Reason really is a long time relationship for many people, some as long as 20 years. Which is crazy amazing. Have you never looked up an old friend or lover on social media? :) Sometimes we move on...

Re: Reason 12.5.0 Released (VST3)
would it make sense to get in the habit of using the VST3 versions moving forward? Or is that all personal choice? I stay with VST2 for everything that is available as that. Mainly because most of the few VST plugins I use are freeware, and I just have to backup my VST2 plugin directory to be able ...

Re: Getting rid of double VSTs in the browser?
is this really true? Won't this kind of defeat the purpose of compatibility? Like now that means I have to worry about the day they decide to drop VST2 support. I was hoping, and under the impression that VST3 could just replace the VST2 instance. No? That is what disabling does via the Manage Plug...

Re: Reason 12.5.0 Released (VST3)
This makes me concerned for the future of my song files compatibility with tracks already using VST2 versions... not to mention the annoyance of having double devices everywhere. Reason has always been strong on backward compatibility. The implementation of VST3 is not to replace VST2 (although Ste...

Re: New Roadmap (December 2022)
Maybe I just need to fully understand the current rolling version philosophy. But for the last 20 years I've brought a product that is what it is with updates that address some of the bugs that seem to cause problems for the most vocal - which up until recently I hadn't been. But seriously I'm not ...

Re: Reason 12.5.0 Released (VST3)
You can always make favorite lists, I would recommend this in any case to avoid bloated plugin lists I did this for VST2, now I have to do this for VST3. Reason's Laziness or lack of programming skills should not make the lives of their users more difficult and require additional steps. it's the ba...

Re: Reason 12.5.0 Released (VST3)
Not jumped ship to my copy of R12 just yet - just a quick question; whilst using R12.5 if you delete all VST2 versions in favour of VST3 and open up an old rsn demo that contains VST2 - will the VST2 plugins be replaced with the installed VST3 plugins? My guess is no. As we can see the VST2 and VST...

Just be aware that when you disable plugins, if you open a project that uses them, Reason will complain that they are missing. is this really true? Won't this kind of defeat the purpose of compatibility? Like now that means I have to worry about the day they decide to drop VST2 support. I was hopin...

Re: Reason 12 F***** autosave
That's hilarious. Air bags are obsolete as cars shouldn’t be crashing – get it, ‘air bags’ = ‘AUTO save’… ;) he he I am happy to say Reason has crashed 2 times in my 20 years of using it. One of the few times I will fully compliment them on something. As far as my comment about it being obsolete go...

Reason featured on Youtuber video.
https://youtu.be/75E0aj1qaw4 I was excited to see reason showcased in one of my favourite new youtube channels called Mac Address, an offshoot channel of Linus Tech Tips. Sadly, Reason chokes hilariously on the new mac M1. Not a good look for the Macbook pro or Reason. I don't personally have these ...
