Re: Dawesome myth
Hm, I see. So it seems to be doing something similar in concept to Synplant, which supposedly uses AI to mimic a sample as close as possible using conventional synthesis.

Re: Dawesome myth
What's the hook on this one? So far from what I see, it claims that you can drop an audio file in and have it become an "iris", which is supposedly somehow different than just loading a sample in a sampler or granular synth, but I really haven't seen anything yet that explains HOW that's different, ...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users
It's kind of hard for me to get too upset about this, even if the worst-case scenario turned out to be true (which, if I understand the gist of the discussion, it isn't). I already have Reason 9 hanging around just in case I needed to open one of my old projects with the Line6 amps. Not long ago I d...

Re: Adding full ADSR envelope to Serato Sample slices
I think if you were a bit more specific about what precisely you were trying to do, it would be easier to give you advice. For example, if you play a sample in some device, and then run it through a different envelope-creating device, what you can do with that envelope is going to be limited by the ...

Isn't the latest version of Synplant supposed to use AI to recreate sound samples as non-sample synthesis?

Looks like "physical modeling" is all the rage lately: https://babyaud.io/atoms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP_OUP9nQCo Just looking at the videos, it seems to me that the intro video above has some okay sounds, but nothing really unique. It's the video that showcases the randomizing ability tha...

Re: Tracktion introduces Outersect Modeler
I'm sure I got the email since I bought F'em during some heavily-discounted sale, so they hooked me at least that much. On another note, I tried to go back and edit the original post to add an actual product page link, but couldn't for the life of me find an edit button, so I guess the forum has cha...

Tracktion introduces Outersect Modeler
Looks like modeling synthesis is catching on. Just got an email about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gExHBy1sRZo Not sure what I think. Looks interesting, from all the few minutes I've looked into it, although with anything one has to remember not to let expectations run away with one's walle...

Re: Reason 12.7 Release Notes (Companion for All)
Maybe so. When I let Reason auto-update, upon restart it wanted me to install Companion (and took me to a page to download it). So perhaps it isn't automatically included.

Arturia Acid V
Got an email from Arturia announcing "Acid V". Am a little surprised to not already find a thread about it here. Anyways, I've seen people get really fussy about those 303 emulations, so figured I'd see what opinions there might be about this latest offering. https://www.arturia.com/products/softwar...

Re: Baby Audio BA-1
Sounds good 👍 I take it this is based on the same or similar synth that the ES-01 is by Ekss? I really like the random feature. I’m more of a patch and tweak guy, than a programmer so getting a random starting point sounds great. That would be the Yamaha CS01: https://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/cs...

I rather like the idea of modeling low batteries and the audio faults and distortions that go along with that.

Re: the new Instrument Rack is coming in May
In France we had detergent that washes whiter than white (I am color blind, I have never seen the difference) That's been used in the States too. But it's not always an exaggeration. Detergents often have "optical brighteners", which means they deposit a small amount of fluorescent material on the ...

You know, I was intrigued by the demo vids and picked this up, but I haven't been able to get it to run, either in Reason (Reason 12 just crashes) or Reaper (won't even let me select it to load). Is anyone else having a problem running this thing? Or is it just me for some reason?

Re: Recommend me an audio interface.
Most interfaces have a switch for using guitar/pickups instruments, so any option will likely be a bit of an upgrade from your current setup I would imagine! You might be surprised! The X-Fi always handled whatever signal I could put into its phono input. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/mVsAAOSwkrNi...

Re: Recommend me an audio interface.
The Arturia has a few more features on the box, but I don't know that you'll find one with S/PDIF (optical) input in the budget range.. ? Cheaper is better, but as I said, I have a certain amount of give if I can get everything I want. To put things in a bit of perspective: When I bought my current...

Re: Recommend me an audio interface.
If you build your pc, based on your minimalist needs, you may not need an audio interface at all. https://pcgearlab.com/motherboard/best-motherboards-for-audio-production/ An interesting article, but those are unlikely to be suitable, because 1) the ports would be all on the back, inconvenient to a...

Re: Recommend me an audio interface.
In terms of plugging your jack in, if the input is balanced it won't matter if the input is unbalanced. I'm more concerned with it actually physically fitting in the thing. Look, again, I may be way out of touch, but right now my 1/4" plug fits in a 1/4" hole, a simple round metal ring. Not this ro...

Re: Recommend me an audio interface.
Avoid m audio. They're trash now and you can always get much better for the same price. What's your budget? Less than the computer? I don't have any fixed price as of yet. We're still in the factfinding stage. A couple hundred ought to be do-able, more possibly if it gives me exactly what I want wi...
