You could also go "half way". Semi modular synths are also cool and give you the best of both worlds while also being cheaper.
I was just about to say that as well. The Behringer Neutron is a good starting point.

Re: Roland System 8 and TR-8: a match made in HEEEEVUN!

I've got a TR-8 and I love it. The 707 expansion is really good, and they added a 606 to it to, and there's drums in there that I use the most, like the 606 snare, and the 707 snare's alt hit. You can get some absolutely insane sounds out of it, for eg. with scatter, particularly the 9th setting is...

Re: Roland System 8 and TR-8: a match made in HEEEEVUN!

Originally, I thought about buying the JP-08, JU-06, and the JX-03 when they were available. A friend of mine has the JP and the JX. I was very impressed with how they sound. But the tiny sliders on the JP and the 4 note limitation on the polyphony made me think twice. I had other gear to buy. So t...

Re: Roland System 8 and TR-8: a match made in HEEEEVUN!

If you got any audio or video clips of the System 8, I’d like to check them out. There is literally a plethora of System 8 clips on YouTube - just check them out! Far more than I'd have time to record/post. I'll say this much: it's probably the best money I've spent on a synth in 30 years. But I'm ...

Re: Roland System 8 and TR-8: a match made in HEEEEVUN!

Sounds like a nice combo. I bought the TR-8S in February and recently bought a TB-03 and an SH-01A . Roland’s ACB modeling is really good on all these machines, and the 3 of them together are awesome for my live jams. I’ve been considering the System 8 for the Jupiter 8 modeling. But I already have ...

$30 is a lot for what they’re offering. But when the IAPs go on sale for half price, I’ll buy the new instruments like I bought Europa Compact.

Roland JP-80x0 Editor & Librarian Plug-in has been crashing Reason since 10.3.

Unfortunately, it’s crashing Reaper as well.

No issues running it in Cubase.

Re: Reason 10.3 public beta is open!

Since it’s safe to mention performance increases, I’m happy to say that I noticed a boost with my 2011 Mac Mini (2.3ghz i5) and Viking 2 loaded, playing some CPU heavy patches with the switch on high. Normally I keep the CPU switch on low and get overloads. Not anymore. This is huge, No need to buy ...

Trancy??? lol
You can’t go by what you hear on a demo. You can use it for whatever you like.
This is a great synth for beginners and more advanced users. So when it hits the stores, give it a try.

Elektron Model Samples???
Too bad it doesn’t actually sample.

Route the clock to all available Midi Buses... !!!!!!!! No Clock on all Midi_Outputs, NO MONEY!! I can wait !!!! I just ran into this limitation recently when adding hardware to my setup. The current limitation of sending clock out to only ONE output is extremely limiting IMO. Also, would LOVE to b...

Re: Arturia MicroFreak

Seems like a great product for the money. But Arturia is gonna have to wait in line while I plan on buying the Behringer Pro-1, Odyssey, and the MS-101 before anything else. But anyway, I’m glad that the Micro Freak is in the same price range. It’s really good to see a good amount of synths in the $...

Re: Browser's auto defocus - driving me crazy !

Yeah it’s very annoying and slows down the workflow, whether you remember to reselect the device or not. I never understood how extra mouse clicks equates to “workflow improvements” as advertised in Reason 8 when the browser was added. I always hated it and still do. That and the “Add Instrument” bu...

Re: Plug-in Boutique list prices. What’s that all about?

I got most if not all of the VSTs mentioned here last year and I never use them. They don’t compare with what I already have. So they just clutter up the browser.

Perhaps we should start a Drum Sequencer feature request topic for the Props to easily see. I have a few ideas of my own for improving it, and I have read a number of other ideas from other users.
That’s a great idea. Post it wherever you think it should go and let’s hope for the best.

Re: Drum Sequencer’s Major Flaw

I looked at the manual and figured out why pattern to track wasn’t working. It requires setting the loop points in the sequencer. So that needs to be done for each pattern. But the bypass all switch needs to be turned off each time. That’s a lot of mouse clicking and traveling. The more clicking and...
