if you would have posted this 15 years ago I would have disagreed but Ableton has made tons of small to big improvements over the years regarding their workflow.
I wish Reason would focus more on the small improvements as well.

Re: Polar Update Delay Comp
Was just thinking about this as I updated Pigments to version 5. Yea, Reason itself has version updates but its instruments almost never do. But we get plenty of NEW instruments, which I'm guessing is because they make more $$ than updates. But at some point you just end up with a super cluttered m...

Re: Subtractor for iOS (iPad)
Subtractor is a great synth for learning synthezis too. Yes. it is probably one of the best GUIs for pure no nonsense subtractive synthesis still to this day. While it's emulation standards are old, it feels much more like a analog synth than newer stuff with built-in effects and such as it forces ...

"the browser has been redesigned as a floating window that you open when you need it and resize as you see fit. The previous browser area is now a dedicated Device Palette that takes up less space and is focused solely on devices. " => Oh no, this is very bad decision and it's AGAINST fast workflow...

Re: Subtractor can do wicked synth bass, and.......
Agreed! I wish RS would make Mach II versions of Subtractor and Thor, with just a couple modern features added, like stereo spread, unison, etc.. I have combinators set up for these things, which is a bit cumbersome and interrupts the work flow. But once achieved... indeed Subtractor (and Thor) sou...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
I really thought RS would have done this with elk like they were showing off a few years ago. Native Instruments should’ve done this by now as well. As simple as this keyboard is, it’s genius! The stage intended keyboard market is pretty boring compared to what software can do and this is a step in...

Re: i say goodby to you! Thank you!
Dear forum members, after all these years I would like to say goodbye to you, because unfortunately I can no longer pursue my beloved music due to a treacherous illness! I have been using reason since version 1.0 and I still think that Reason is one of the best software on the market. Unfortunately...

I was kind of a fan of their old Pop up patch browser as it made it very simple for casual patch browsing. The losing focus thing gets me as well.

Re: Looks like Reason Studios have redesigned their site...
I'm noticing that other DAW maker websites don't look that great as well. So with that said Reason is somewhere in the middle of the pack (but that isn't saying much as DAW website bars must be pretty low) Cubase looks like I'm trying to buy a sofa. I like Reason's website better. FL Studio looks li...

AND IT IS VERY LOUD. ... also three sometimes four different fonts on the same page? Sacrilege. Personally, I find it a bit jarring and cringe. What do you guys think? EDIT: Just had a look on mobile, and now the design makes a little more sense. Still, super jarring on a PC. https://www.reasonstud...

Re: Which Reason Devices would make it on their own
most of the Props/RS instruments are very good even compared to the wider VST market imo, but sound quality is only a small part of what makes a VSTi successful. i mean everything arturia make sounded terrible until very recently and it didn't stop them from becoming one of the biggest softsynth co...

Re: NNXT tenor sax preset “blart” is very ugly and grating
I’m sure saxophonists have a proper term for the overdriven sound you get from blowing hard, but I find the sampled versions for the NNXT to be really unmusical, in this case the Tenor sax case, but it’s also bad for the baritone too IIRC. Am I’m doing it wrong? Is there a way to make it sound vagu...

Re: Which Reason Devices would make it on their own
Well, they tried and failed with Europa as a VST. Outside of the small pond that is the Reason ecosystem the instruments are not so special and would struggle to stand out in a saturated market. I think though if they focused primarily on VSTS though Europa would me more developed. That said Grain ...

Re: What makes Reason a great “Idea Starter”?
What makes Reason a great “Idea Starter”? And what is the difference between a full blown DAW and a creative “idea starter”? For me it’s a great idea starter partly because of the ‘fun factor’ for sure, but I can’t really clarify it much further than that. When it comes right down to it the proof i...

Re: Reason Sequencer vs Other DAWs
There are a few reasons I think: 1. Originally Reason wasn't a DAW. It couldn't record audio and didn't host VSTs. 2. Slower paced updates. I think the pacing on the updates in Reason have been fairly slow compared to other DAWs. 3. It took awhile to improve the piano roll. 4. Certain features are s...

Hello everyone, Just wondering if there is anyone here that is using Reason for the mainly rock / hard rock and anything else in between? Re: Reason 32bit floating point recording
The AudioGram sounded pretty good. It was mainly just the relatively low but quite audible noise when listening to headphones. I didn't really hear it much when listening via the MacBook Air speakers. I'm thinking it was mainly just a couple of things: The Yamaha Audiogram 3 had terrible noise and ...

Re: Reason 32bit floating point recording
16 bit recording: @ nearly twice the dynamic range of 24 track analog machines I never once heard noise coming from the recording. That said, I did little ADAT recording (less than with DA88 format), but the ‘big’ 16 bit machines I worked with had very low noise. Just like Fairlight CMI only had 8 ...

Re: Reason 32bit floating point recording
It MIGHT work since it’s coming into Reason via USB and Reason’s internal path is 32 bit. But remember, the dynamic range of 24 bit covers from dead silent to well over the threshold of pain. Not sure any voice needs THAT much dynamic range. AND, since 24 bit interfaces gives you such a wide range ...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists
Reason is of it´s possibilites the avantgarde DAW and it was developed by a small team, as well they don´t make a big hussle about puplic relations s..t in the past. So if fruityloops is a toy compared and abletons or it´s latest "offtopic release" bitwig is a dedicated and well pulic announced ele...

V1 was a revelation and a revolution. They had already brought us Rebirth at a time when all other software instruments sucked, then they hit us with Reason, complete with a method of running Rebirth alongside it. Reason 1 (or Reason as it was known!) was streets ahead of anything else back then. S...

Re: Who would you prefer to acquire Reason Studios?
If Bandlab bought Reason Studios I doubt the authorization would change. If Bandlab bought Reason, it would become free. The Bandlab business model is not about selling software licenses. Many of those companies mentioned are small developers. Buying Reason would be a lot of money. Bandlab is owned...
