Blamsoft releases eXpanse 2.0 and Zero 1.2
As you might know already Propellerhead have released a free update to Reason 9. The main new feature of Reason 9.2 is that it supports Rack Extensions built with the latest SDK (Software development Kit) that supports frequently requested features such as sample loading, switchable panels etc. You can read the whole story here. As a direct follow-up of this update, Blamsoft releases Expanse 2.0 and Zero 1.2.
Expanse 2.0 Update
Due to it’s unique ability to inspire creativity while delivering pristine sound quality, Expanse has quickly become one of the most popular Rack Extension synthesizers. Surely this free update (crazy) will catapult Expanse to its own class and make it the most sought after Rack Extension synthesizer.
Serum and custom Wavetables
In version 2.0, Expanse’s oscillators are taken to the next level. Now you can load any Serum-compatible wavetable into Expanse. With literally thousands of Serum Wavetables available, the number of possibilities becoming endless. In addition to Serum-compatible files, Expanse will process any sample and extract a wavetable. This means that you can sample an oscillator from your favorite synth by following the tutorial prepared by Blamsoft. If you feel adventurous and want to experiment, try to drag in any sample from the browser (after choosing User in the left click menu of the oscillators). Sometimes non-standard samples result in a jumpy wavetable fortunately Expanse got you covered. Simply, choose one of the Crossfade/Morph modes to smooth out the wavetable.
Workflow enhancements
In addition to the powerful wavetable importing capabilities, Expanse 2.0 offers a handful workflow enhancements. Now, every display uses popup menus instead of click and drag. The Additive Engine and Envelope interfaces respond to keyboard modifier keys for precision control (Shift) and resetting to default values (Ctrl/Cmd). You can now copy, paste, and reset envelopes in addition to oscillators. Access copy, paste, and reset using an Alt-click in the Additive Engine or Envelope displays. (On Windows you need to watch out as Alt can active Reason`s File menu due to burnt in OS feature.) To top it off, the Mod Matrix menus now have sub-grouping for quicker browsing. Also don`t forget the drag to connect feature that was added in version 1.1.
And the best news is that the upgrade is free for owners of Expanse!
So run to the Propellerhead Shop and download your free eXpanse 2.0 update.
