Understanding levels and clipping in Reason

There has been a lot of talk about levels and clipping in Reason over the years. Among them, you’ll probably find debates about whether or not Reason is suited as a tool for mixing and mastering. Now that we have Rack Extensions, those doubts can finally be put to rest, but what about those pesky levels?

I know there’s been a few Propellerhead show-and-tell and tutorial videos that went over most people’s head, including mine. That’s why I think this video is worth a mention. It sort of demystifies the SSL mixer in Reason and the signal path from device-to-output, and personally I had a few eureka-moments while watching this!

Do not worry too much about the red LED’s on the mixer channels.
