After Synplant 2 release every answer in such challenges could be Synplant 2 :)
No VSTs in this game. See the rules.
I think this is gonna be hard as it is just sticking to the Reason ecosystem. If we added VSTs to this it would almost be impossible.

I say it is Thor.

It certainly has this spacey Parsec sound, but as this would be too easy, I'll go with SAW-1 Discovery instead.

It also isn't Thor

It's not SAW either.

And here's me thinking it would be easy to guess, because there is a certain resonance in there which is a dead giveaway (if you are familiar with it). So here's a hint: it is the absolute last synthesizer you would think of for this kind of sound :puf_bigsmile:

I'm gonna take a second guess.
Is it FM4?

Probably not though, unless you actually bought it or trialed it since we last talked.
But I'm hearing that kind of background aliasing or bit reduction thing in the background which FM4 is capable of if you switch the "model" setting.

Not FM4, and indeed I haven't yet bought or even trialed it.

New rule. You can only guess one at a time.

Naming more than one is a bit like cheating, so I propose one guess at he time from now on
EDIT tritone beat me to it.

It is PX7 indeed

It is the Troropid preset that I only slightly edited to hide that FM signature, running into FAT50 with the mpc60 preset, into Chenille with the Juno chorus 1 preset at around 10% mix, and topping it all of with a bit of rv7k large hall.

Some guesses show that PX7 can hold its ground against some of the modern synthesizers :puf_wink:

Alright so SebAudio, would you like to do the next example? Or would you prefer to leave it up to whoever makes something first?

Ok, so If SebAudio don't mind I would go with next guesses...

Are we allowed to post two examples of the same synth ?

From the first example it is pretty difficult to guess what synth it is, but from second one it should be pretty obvious :)

Sure make two examples if you want, as long as it's one synth at a time.

I'm quickly learning that for the one making the examples it seems obvious, but to everyone else it really isn't.
I'll wait with any guesses since I've already been quite active in the guessing game.

In the second example (melodymaker2), you can hear pretty characteristic timbre that isn't easy to achieve on many synths ;)

Hint: the reverb and stereo spread (first example) is included in the synth

I think I know what it might be (could be totally wrong though), but I'll wait so others can participate as well.

You’re right ! Since PX7 is no longer available, I proposed Algoritm…
Great idea you had by the way 😃

Your choice of a « non cliché » FM sound is good because certainly this challenge is a mean to (re) discover synths and sounds. Which why I told Tritone about his great challenge idea.

Agreed. It is a great way to show some not so obvious sounds for a synthesizer. That was exactly my idea with my choice of that preset

Now, does anyone know which synth that last sound is made with? Just a wild guess from me: Oberon.

I am quickly realising I cannot identity any synth from a sound.

My guess (which is probably wrong) is rp quad

Well, it would seem that whatever it is it has built in effects so that narrows it down a bit but that still leaves a multitude of REs so I'm just going to throw out Europa :?

There is only one synth that allows you to put custom sequence of spectral waves to get this characteristic result  ...Now it should be really clear what synth it is :D
