Awesome, I might do a year end poll and see how that goes. Best of luck and I hope your intentions come to fruition! What genre is your album going to be (if I remember you have like a cool retro but modern 80s sound going on)?EnochLight wrote:I've spent the last 6 months working on an album that I intend to release, hopefully this fall (late) or early winter. Clearly an oversight on my part! I updated the poll and took out I Only Collect REs (since it had zero replies and I threw that in there is a funny choice) and replaced it with your suggestion.normen wrote:Wheres the "I don't write songs, I mix / produce other peoples songs" option?

Thanks man! Yeah, it's a mix.. I grew up in the 80's so it definitely has an influence. Trying to hit a mix of that with a more modern electronic sound, but i'm also doing traditional guitar+bass+drums tracks, too. A cornucopia of influences, I suppose!MannequinRaces wrote:Awesome, I might do a year end poll and see how that goes. Best of luck and I hope your intentions come to fruition! I put up 4 videos on youtube of my most recent projects all made entirely with Reason. I've worked on a ton more projects this year, but most of it was not worth developing. I'm going to post more projects to youtube soon, so please check out muh work and like and subscribe if it's something you dig!
I do experimental ambient droney sort of stuff (check my website!), pretty minimalist so sometimes things come together fast. It's not like I've produced three Steely Dan songs in ten days. Still, a major breakthrough after a 12 month period of musical constipationMannequinRaces wrote: Wow! Three tracks in ten days is amazing! I am soooooo close to pulling the trigger on Fritz! What kind of label are you releasing on and what genre is your music?

Interesting stuff Berber Ox. Have you checked out Clams Casino's new record 32 Levels? He uses a lot of ambient textures. Your sounds seem like something he might sample. Throw a back beat behind it and you might be surprised what happens.

Good ones at that. pLansford bringin the fire.Peter wrote:Two personal album projects, one EP production for an artist and one remix = 25.
Overall, myself and the tracking engineer, who is a friend and excellent musician, selected Samplitude per a compromise decision between ProTools, Digital Performer, Samplitude and Studio One. It mainly boiled down to which application that he and I could both operate efficiently.MannequinRaces wrote: Cool! Any plans to use Reason to release anything in the future or are you pretty happy with Samplitude? Using live musicians is the best. Sounds like you're a busy fella!
In the future, if I am performing all of the tracking duties myself, it is very likely that I will use Reason occasionally for songs, but probably not until I upgrade from version 7. I will upgrade Reason at some point in time, but not until after version 9.
With that said, once this EP is released, which is considered my "bucket list" project, I probably will not do any heavy recording as an artist, either solo or in a group, for another year or two, if at all. Any further projects will definitely be on a much tighter budget and lesser in scope. At this point in life, I truly prefer being a musician for live performances and studio sessions, as well as helping other artists realize their potential.
Maybe 6 finished for other ppl, 2 for myself that are not released though. Finishing own songs is the hardest thing in life sometimes

In my opinion a cornucopia of choices is never a bag thing! For me the pendulum is swinging from electronic music back to guitar driven songs. I grew up in the 80s also. It wasn't as bad as some people make the 80s out to be.EnochLight wrote:Thanks man! Yeah, it's a mix.. I grew up in the 80's so it definitely has an influence. It's a great feeling when the musical constipation clears up!dvdrtldg wrote:I do experimental ambient droney sort of stuff (check my website!), pretty minimalist so sometimes things come together fast. Thank you for elaborating! It's great you've found your bearing and have a clear focus for what you want to accomplish with music. You should really consider doing a project in Reason just to get a feel for it.txh003 wrote:At this point in life, I truly prefer being a musician for live performances and studio sessions, as well as helping other artists realize their potential.

Hey now let's be nice... doing nothing can be something too! I'm willing to wager that the 50% that did not release anything were still musically active and derived great enjoyment from tinkering around with Reason. There might have been moments of great frustration as well because no songs got completed all the way. Unfortunately I'm in that 50% that hasn't done jack shit. By the end of the year I hope to have one song done and released... I can do it and so can other people reading that need a little extra push to get something released (if that's their intention)!!boobytrap wrote:according to current results (55 total votes) 50-50. 50% did nothing !
Thanks man, and I like your stuff as well! Refreshing sounds and ideas.MannequinRaces wrote: I checked out your track Magic Stitches, very cool!

Yeah and the 'x amount of songs finished but not released yet' option? that is me.normen wrote:Wheres the "I don't write songs, I mix / produce other peoples songs" option?
Or the 'x amount of songs finished, not released as not happy with the overall production of them' option.
I have a few fully finished songs (say 6) and some almost finished and tons half finished but I've used the Redrum for the drums on some and I'm waiting to record real drums on them and need a drummer to do so too. I also am only 50-70% happy with the production on the vast majority as I consider myself a novice in terms of production. I've been practicing 4 years and feel I should be better but could be worse.

Yes, I should have at least a 13 track EP/Album released in the next couple of months. Possibly another 10 tracks EP aswell by the end of the year. Fingers crossed.MannequinRaces wrote:Thanks for answering the poll truthfully! Any plans on releasing your other material this year?ProfessaKaos wrote:I have finished about 20+ but they are not to be released just yet, so my vote went 1-4 finished and released as I have only put out a few which were just remixes to put something out.
