Anyone else notice that Neptune's transpose function is inconsistent? Anyone know why this is?
Real time pitch correction is always hit and miss. With Melodyne / Variaudio I guess there is pre-calculation involved, so a higher quality algorithm can be used.
Just guessin tho...no hard evidence here except that Variaudio kicks Neptunes butt.

Lol, you were expecting them to be similar? Either you are trolling or I am confused by why you think -12 & +12 should be more consistent. Do you mean multiple passes at -12 are all different and multiple passes at +12 are all different, etc.? Do you have Neptune locked to a scale?colcifer wrote:joeyluck wrote:What is inconsistent about it?
I recorded a few passes at -12 and +12 - they're different.

Got any audio samples of the inconsistencies or the source material you put through Neptune?
Depends on what you are recording. Maybe the inconsistencies are in the performance?

I definitely hear what you're talking about! Not sure why it's doing that. Moral of the story, don't use Neptune to transpose notes that are already MIDI and can be transposed easier, lol.

I don't - but that's because I can't get any audio to play in the song file. What am I doing wrong?MannequinRaces wrote:I definitely hear what you're talking about!

I wouldn't use Neptune for this because the built in audio transpose in the sequencer is so much better IMO. You should get more consistent results with this approach in my experience, mainly (as other have already mentioned) because it is not a "live" process and can therefore be accomplished more accurately.

Yeah...seems to me doing something weird with harmonics...
As Selig said, use the Sequencer's transpose function instead.
I still use the Neptune for the formant shift on vocals and other things.
Or as MannequinRaces mentioned, transpose the MIDI notes if that's what it is.
