Its 'have' logged on.

If you think i'm a "believer" you haven't read a word ive said, including the things i said on page one. Every contribution you make is to some imagined foe who is making easy arguments for your 110 IQ to refute. You argue in bad faith constantly.

If you think american politicians and officials with much to lose are lying thats fine - but (repeating myself again here) you dont want to have the conversation about the implications of that, you just want to ruin it for others who are willing to take in new data about their world and indulge in healthy speculation. You spam stale reddit memes and degrasse tyson videos with absolutely no relation to valid points made. Doesnt seem like fitting behaviour for a mod. You're already getting away with breaking the no politics rule with your avi, can you stop spamming the thread please and try to address points made if you want to participate?

Ooooo - looks like I struck a nerve again. It's a forum - you're going to get opposing views - that's the whole point. Get over yourself. I wasn't aware that this thread was for people who ONLY think that there is some great government conspiracy/cover up and alien UFO believers? And how is my retort of opposing views "spamming" when bxbrkrz's posts aren't?

I'll wait.

I may be a mod, but I am also a forum member and human just like all of you all, and I am 100% entitled to my opinions and will freely share them here. Being a mod doesn't mean I have a gag order and placate all Reasontalk forum members with pillows, participation trophies, and disappear. My job - which is unpaid and completely volunteer - is to screen new account creation (we get a TON of SPAM), respond to reported posts, and jump in to threads if things get bad. Also, where am I breaking a no politics rule? A kid flipping you off at a sporting event in front of a flag? Big deal. I've made no political posts, I don't discuss politics, and I couldn't give a rat's ass about politics.

But getting back to the subject since you seem so hurt about stale memes and Neil deGrasse Tyson videos, how is reminding people that there are real methods to validating data, in no relation to this topic? Are you saying that watching videos of politicians claiming that "UFO's ARE REAL / THE ALIENS ARE HERE" warrants discussion, while the very real nature of how the universe works is not? Because if that's the case, that makes zero sense. I have no issues reminding people of the Scientific Method and why it's the best approach when dealing with any sort of information, UFO's or otherwise.

I'll spell it out for you since you seem to believe I am "arguing in bad faith" and are unable to understand what the NDT videos even mean in relation: 1. No amount of politicians or military (current or ex) stating ANYTHING changes what we know about the universe and how actual physics work, which is to say that 2. interstellar space travel and aliens arriving on earth is a highly unlikely explanation for said UFO's.

Better?

Also, stop with the ad hominems.

But Ive also said its a low possibility that its an alien civ actually travelling here, and did that whole post speculating on self replicating probes, long passages of time, etc. Cant speak for anyone else but Im not seeing any big time true believers on this thread so sometimes your scorn seems a bit unwarranted. Pretty sure even bxbrkrz with his valiant efforts to keep the thread alive with recent video updates is 'sceptical but interested' like me, which is the spirit of the OP.

And again Im VERY open to this all being BS but to me that begs a massive question given the kind of people involved. Dont understand why you're not more interested in that given you so sure there is no 'there' there (which is a perfectly valid position, Im not knocking it, but you cant avoid the next question it leads to)

Imagine existing on a dimension where time is a direction you're free to move around. Vast distances mean nothing to you cause time moving linearly means nothing to you.

Or, same dimension, but they're future earthlings who've just started learning how to time travel.

Fascinating stuff to wonder about.

I never said I wasn't interested, and I never said that ignoring what all of these politicians and military are saying doesn't warrant exploration. What I am saying is that none of this changes the factual nature of interstellar space travel or the unlikely journey of aliens making it to earth. What is the harm in reminding people of this? Again, if this thread isn't just for people who believe, then being "skeptical but interested" is actually where I fall as well. Nothing I have posted goes against that. I remain a true skeptic.

I don't know how old you are, but we (as in the world) have been seeing statements by politicians and military about UFO's for over 80 years. This is not new. The only reason this has become such a big show lately is because we now have the Internet and sowing discourse seems to be the new normal - especially in today's world.

It's fascinating, especially when you realize that time is entirely a human construct. Makes for great sci-fi though!

Im well aware, hence the thread being sparked by scientists who are not on the UFO grift posting videos about the last flap back in 2021, thats where we started. If I'd have started the thread with a Coast to Coast or Eddie Bravo video it would have maybe deserved some derision but I was trying to find the scientific (as well as the socio-political) angle from the outset, not the true believer stuff, that would be boring (I'm sure you would agree!).

I'm interested in hearing more from the professor who's right now looking for remnants near Papua new guinea! That's a source I would trust given his background.

Never heard of him until today, but The Hill isn't exactly known for its reliability:

The rather sensationalist title of that video says a lot. Just curious how Avi Loeb came to the conclusion that an alleged meteorite from almost a decade ago, at the bottom of the ocean, is not only from out of this solar system but also of "alien origin"? :o  But reading up on him, he seems to be a firm believer in directed panspermia. I think that might be clouding his judgement...

I don't know about The Hill and don't really care what reputation they have: the interesting part to me was the interview with Loeb. Lets see what he finds, perhaps it'll be something easy to debunk.
I hear him say "maybe" about alien origin. He's got the data but don't have the equipment for proper analysis on the boat.

Yes Im a fan of Avi.

Check out his interviews with Event Horizon and John Michal Goodier (in fact Goodier's channels are the best most science based assessments of where we're at with this imho). Nice to see a Harvard prof willing to put his head above the parapet and have the courage of his convictions. He may or may not be on the right track but he is brave enough to try and advance the research into something meaningful.

Title "Extraterrestrial debris found" ≠ "There are material that corresponds with something from outer space" said in the video.

I'm looking for updates straight from the horse's mouth

Great read:

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/02 ... mainstream
national security officials discounted any thoughts that what the Air Force shot out of the sky represented any sort of alien visitors. No one, one senior official said, thinks these things are anything other than devices fashioned here on Earth.

I think this guy is overestimating the significance. Are there really people in real life who think earth is the only planet with life in the entire universe? 😂

Edit: just finished listening. That guy is really looking forward to all the money he's gonna make 😂😂😂
