Re: How were you introduced to Reason?

I was introduced to Reason 2.0 at a Guitar Center, when I was making the transition from a mostly hardware to primarily software studio environment. The only software used in my studio, at that time, was Master Tracks Pro, a software MIDI sequencer. All audio tracks were recorded on multiple ADATs o...

Re: Synapse The Legend Synthesizer is in the Shop

Due to the free VST crossgrade offer, I will more than likely purchase the RE version of The Legend. At this time, I do not use Reason, but it would be nice to have The Legend available if I ever decided to incorporate the said DAW platform into my workflow in the future.

Re: Goodbye DJ Spank Spank R.I.P

Sorry to read the news. My prayers go out to his family and friends. Phuture, in addition to their various aliases, was one of my favorite House music groups back in the 80's, when I also was a DJ. I still have many of their 12" releases, included some imports, from that time period. Their music, as...

Re: I've lost my mojo.

My suggestion is to collaborate with others at the songwriting and/or production stages, especially if they have skills and talents that offset your own deficiencies. This will open up new ideas and lead you down different paths, in music, that you might not have traveled on your own. In my opinion,...

Re: Is musical ability genetic?

Within my extended family tree, there is a very high percentage of trained musicians and singers. However, we all have different strengths, whether innate or learned, and challenges. In my opinion, one of the primary struggles of being effective in the world of music is for a person to find his or h...

Cool! Any plans to use Reason to release anything in the future or are you pretty happy with Samplitude? Using live musicians is the best. Sounds like you're a busy fella! :) Overall, myself and the tracking engineer, who is a friend and excellent musician, selected Samplitude per a compromise deci...

Re: Poll - How Many Songs Have You Finished and Released in 2016?

Zero. I completed a 4 song Neo-Soul EP, in Samplitude Pro X2 not Reason, and plan to release it later this year on CD Baby. The music is 100% finalized and mastered. However, my artist website, social media pages and artwork for this particular project are under construction. Music is a serious hobb...

Softube has regular sale promotions. Therefore, I would definitely wait for the TSAR-1 to be discounted. Overall, the said RE is my favorite room and hall bus reverb available for Reason.

Re: Do bypassed effects consume cpu cycles?

Unless things have changed from version 7, which is the most recent license that I own, the answer is "yes". A device, whether an instrument or effect, still consumes CPU cycles when in a Bypass state. However, turning an effect device to an Off state eliminates, or significantly reduces, the idle C...

I use backblaze. $5/month for unlimited backup. It'll backup flash drives and external hard drives hooked to your computer too. +1 I have used Backblaze for several years without complaint or issue. Re: Is it possible to get a hard high pass or a hard low pass filter with the stock reason spectrum eq?

In theory, one solution is to run several HP or LP filters in series to achieve the desired dB/octave cut, which are additive. Below is an example: + 1 pole (or 6 dB/octave) HP/LP filter + 1 pole (or 6 dB/octave) HP/LP filter ------------------------------ = 2 pole (or 12 dB/octave) HP/LP filter It ...

The Zoom H4n Pro looks like a solid product, and it is good to see continued development in the handheld recorder market.

I am still using Zoom H2n, with the accessory pack, for R&B/Soul, Jazz and Gospel band and choir rehearsals, in addition to songwriting sessions.

Re: Is it worth looking into RE filters?

The Fxpansion Etch Red is great for filter effects, but probably not the best for general mixing purposes.

For general mixing tasks, the standard SSL filters should suffice for most needs. However, if desired, the Code Diggers D-Filter will provide the user with additional filter slopes.
