Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users
So it seems that the vst3 does appear to require a license to host: https://steinbergmedia.github.io/vst3_dev_portal/pages/FAQ/Licensing.html#:~:text=You%20can%20distribute%20your%20VST,Proprietary%20Steinberg%20VST%203%22%20license. However vst2 is a different story according to this post on a juce...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users
Yes you need a license to host vst. It's understood that future releases won't be able to host vst2 because of this.

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users
I trust the AI answer on this one (see above). It was pretty convinced it knew the right answer even when I pushed against the answers it gave, it kept reassuring me that people in the forum are misunderstanding or are misinformed :) Those chat bots are pretty fckn dumb, and despite the fact they s...

Meh. Never cared for royalty free music and not gonna start now because it was made algorithmically from stolen data sets. The pop punk example sounded too much like the green day singer. Hmmm i wonder why... 🤔 😂 Hopefully lawmakers will ensure the shit these services pump cannot be copyrighted and ...

Re: Is Behringer Neutron the closest to Subtractor?
You could hear the tones and character of the synth there at its dirtiest, so if you dig , you won’t be disappointed. I think for the price it is a great synth, and in better hands than mine it is probably very useful!

Re: Is Behringer Neutron the closest to Subtractor?
I've only ever used the input to process drums. Depending on the music style and Sonic aesthetic you're after, it may or may not work for you. I personally mainly only ever use it for bass, bypassing entirely the drive and the delay. I find the character of the neutron would be more suited for dirt...

Re: Visco by Forever 89
That's because this doesn't playback samples. Instead, when you import a sample it will resynthesize it and then what you hear when you play is not the audio sample. You can then do things to the sound which you couldn't do with a sample and shape it and modulate it however you like. Like synplant 2...

Visco by Forever 89
This one looks very interesting. Uses the same concept of synplant in that it will synthesize any sample you import, but for drums, plus a bunch of further manipulation to the sound beyond the original sample. https://forever89.studio/visco/ https://youtu.be/Ib6M5PZ5I-U?si=hotqtpZh2Rklc04N https://y...

Re: Using Mimic for reference tracks (for mixing)
I got an idea that might work for you. Simple, too, only requires a single mimic instance, but also requires a bit of prep work, and might not work depending on how many tracks you want to use as reference per project. Here goes: 1. Import all the reference tracks on a new project in Reason 2. Edit ...

Re: Using Mimic for reference tracks (for mixing)
Since i know nothing of the genre, how is the market for it these days? The budgets are still the same as they were in the days Pink Floyd were putting out new material?

For sure i understand the genre works different. All the more reason to improve the workflow everywhere! How much does an engineer charge to mix a song in that style?

Re: Using Mimic for reference tracks (for mixing)
Why you ask? Precisely because every minute counts. If there's a tool that allows for quicker workflow, then it's worth it. Metric AB does the loudness matching in maybe 5 to 10 seconds instead of a minute. That will compound to a long ass time saved over years of mixing 😅 One hour mixing prep sound...

Re: Using Mimic for reference tracks (for mixing)
But then you got to launch the transport on the right spot or else the midi doesn't get triggered.
Minutes (or a minute) to do the loudness matching? That's way too long.
So what kind of music do you make? And where can we listen to it?

Re: Using Mimic for reference tracks (for mixing)
Well, then suit yourself making your life more difficult than it needs to be 👍 How do you automate the loudness matching? Will you only use the same song references on every mix? Otherwise the set up will happen on every single track you mix. Sounds exhausting. Extra tip: there's no need to referenc...

Re: Using Mimic for reference tracks (for mixing)
Having to trigger the reference via midi and it being limited to only one track per device, plus the timer you take matching the levels and you don't get any of the benefits that tools made for this offer... My advice is:
Just get adapter metric AB and use the time you'd save to mix instead ♂️
