Re: High RAM usage since last update?
Thought I'd do a sanity check here on my MacOS machine, three VST 3's loaded and powered up Monosnap untitled 2024-04-11 15-21-30.png Definitely better than Windows, so maybe it's not happening on OSX. The VM size is a little insane though! :) Actually AVID Link was taking over 7 GBs of RAM! So thi...

Re: Controller mod wheel rubber degrading
If it's just sticky try warm soapy water. Then try sticky label remover. Then, if you are feeling brave, try a solvent like acetone. I've had success with all these methods in the past. If it is falling apart contact Novation. They can supply common spares for their stuff and sometimes for really o...

Controller mod wheel rubber degrading
This seems to happen to a lot of softer rubbers (elastomers?) in my experience, the texture starts to get a bit sticky and eventually starts falling apart. I'm very happy with the controller so replacing it just to deal with a failing mod wheel seems bad. But I imagine trying to fix it is pretty poi...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
Pros: It's a synth. Most Arturia stuff is good. Cons: It's got a bad name. It costs $$$$. Did I mention the price? But, yes, Analog Lab in hardware form. Great idea. But that price. Exactly.crimsonwarlock wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024The click is on the control-room output as well. However, the browser preview (samples etc.) is completely bypassing any routing and goes directly to output 1/2. So that's probably the reason to have them active during writing/composition.

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?
So my final solution to this is to hook up the control room to 3&4 and monitor on 1&2 while writing music . Then I'll use Focusrite Control to switch the headphone out to 3&4 for the mixing stage so that I can utilize the send monitoring and it's also where I've patched in my reference track input (...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?
The way I found out what is what, is when I connected the control-room to my outputs 3-4, and I thought that not using output 1-2 meant those could stay unconnected (which would solve an issue with the Scarlett MixControl software). Imagine my surprise when I rendered out the song, and I got a comp...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?
Yeah, now I have a headphone volume control on my audio interface the need for this routing option is moot (and the Reason control doesn't actually work as I imagined, making it more confusing than useful).

It's simple, the market expands from a niche to the entire DAW space.

Re: (80's Synthpop/New Romantic) She Walks In Beauty
Great tune, (getting a bit of Thomas Dolby vibe) but have to agree with Quarmat, the chorus seems quieter than the verse! (if I was able to discern the difference correctly? :) ) The solo/bridge is a nice shift from the main song, though perhaps outstays its welcome? And the end is a bit abrupt, per...

Very nice, definitely some lovely melodic launch pads. I was feeling a soaring solo coming on (but didn't ) so that might cool?

If you have a sequencer that can handle MIDI SysEx data then it should be pretty simple:

Re: Hardware Production Question
My college programming project in the mid-80s was to create a MIDI sequencer on the Atari ST. I even managed to get the dept to buy a CZ-101 as a test device. It was massively over ambitious but also a ton of fun to work on. I think I managed to get it to record and playback a few notes by the end o...

Re: You know what the whole problem is nowadays about making music?
I would say that once you are proficient with an instrument then it’s always been too easy to make dull music. Professional songwriters can crank out Muzak with barely a second thought. The challenge has always been in crafting a memorable piece of music. Our new toys have not made that any easier, ...

Yep, we’ll see. But I’m going to be surprised if it gains wide spread adoption. Google Glass users were loathed very quickly and that was close to the final form factor.

Having all these toys at our finger tips does require applying some discipline in order to get the best out of them (and most efficient use of time and resources). There are some great approaches listed above and I can only second them as learning to be disciplined in my approach to working in Reaso...

Re: Rant: What is up with the Apple Vision Pro poor cable management?
It's for the power pack and yes it does look ridiculous. Nintendo called and they want their Virtual Boy back... I used to be a huge VR nerd in the early 90s when the tech was first being explored. Seemed like a super cool idea. I've since matured quite a bit and can't really see it taking the world...
