Re: I borked my PC, will I have any issue activating R+ on a new machine?
Why did I press that stupid button? Why??? I knew exactly what was going to happen! Which button did you push? A little background : It wouldn't boot into Windows (I installed Ubuntu onto the smaller drive after installing Windows onto the larger drive I added last year, but I think it was ...

Re: I borked my PC, will I have any issue activating R+ on a new machine?
Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure how iLok works. They have their "zero downtime" service, but I think you can still report a computer unusable and maybe it just takes longer? I should have a free available activation for the stuff I use the most. And maybe I can use the cloud activation in the mean...

Re: I borked my PC, will I have any issue activating R+ on a new machine?
With R+ / R12 and the new authorization system, you can authorize up to 3 computers for offline use. You can of course also still use online authorization as well. How long your computer is authorized for depends on your plan and if you chose to enable long-term authorization. That said, you can st...

I borked my PC, will I have any issue activating R+ on a new machine?
I activated R+ on my PC on January 4th, which I think should expire in a couple of months, right? So I've ordered a new machine (the Dell Micro was cool but I could never get the Bluetooth or wireless working, not even when I ordered the exact same chip it originally came with) ... ... ... I'm hopin...

Re: Producing through "mastering" chain?
As far as the creative process, I have been sucked into the “making it sound great before there is a song written” rabbit hole. My solution has been to let the sound “suck” until there is a song worth polishing. Split the creative and the technical process such that no major technical work is done ...

Re: How to recommend Reason Studios to your friend
I enjoy Studio One especially when I need to write printout music for an ensemble. But when I am creating I am in the Reason DAW. I'm really curious about their orchestration as the keyswitches are integrated with the editor so that you can control & edit articulations on a per-note basis. I only h...

Re: How to recommend Reason Studios to your friend
Yeah Reason is unique, intuitive and fun. And if ultimately a new user decides that the DAW isn't quite for them, they aren't left with nothing and still have the RRP. That's what makes Reason a great choice if buying a DAW. And then there's Reason+ as well if you want to spend less, try it out, an...

Re: How to recommend Reason Studios to your friend
Funnily enough one of my friends who I used to make music with in music wanted a recommendation. I recommended studio one. I didn't want to risk her having difficulties with the rack or anything. Hey brother told her to just get Reason+. He was confused why I didn't suggest it. And she was so happy ...

Re: Reason vs. Logic
I think you answered your own question. ;) Well, the internet is old enough for us all to know how easy it is for miscommunication to take place. At the same time, I can only do so much if the other person persists in misunderstanding no matter how well or unambiguously communicated. And I think it...

Re: How to recommend Reason Studios to your friend
I've read lots of music interviews over the years and there have occasionally been people who say "I started out on Reason but then moved to Live (or AnotherDAW). I've never seen anyone say they moved the opposite way. As for the rack, mixer and cables paradigm, I'm not sure it's as relevant as it ...

Re: Mimic: New Creative Sampler
You can also buy MPC expansions, which all come with wave files Thanks, but there is no shortage of wav`s lol. Or this is with Mimic patches too ? This all depends on what music you make, but the MPC expansions are exceptionally well curated for sampling and I find their sound packs a lot more amen...

Re: Reason vs. Logic
I use 3 DAW, Reason my main, then FL Studio, then Logic on my iPad. I just learn tools and make music. Open whichever DAW I feel like that day and make everything in one. If you ask me which is "better", that certainly can be subjective, for it's Reason because of certain features which are streaml...

Re: Reason vs. Logic
Just so we're clear: I AGREE with EVERYTHING you've said about the "overall value of the tools you use". I don't understand why this is so confusing. I say Macs are not overpriced. That is MY opinion. It is based on years of experience. One cannot know my mind, my needs, or my opinion better than I ...

Re: How to recommend Reason Studios to your friend
I focus on the tools most appropriate for the individual. Reason is the easiest way to empower yourself as an engineer, though Bitwig Grid has similar capabilities. But I'd recommend Studio One as a safe DAW default, Reason, Live and FLStudio offering very different alternative takes, ... And so on....

Re: Reason vs. Logic
Are we talking about opinions? Becuase I believe we are, and you can’t say someone’s opinion is “right or wrong”, it just “is”. Unless there is a specific dollar value that is priced “correctly” that we can all agree on, one mans “overpriced” is another mans “totally worth it”. In my case, I ‘ thin...

[Jon Makes Beats] "My Beatmaking Process Without Edits" - how Reason could/should feel
Reason has all the devices for this workflow. This is how it could/should feel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsMCEpo3xjQ All that's missing are well-integrated controllers. Imagine if there were a bunch of controllers with simple LCD screens that gave you a hardware feel while being powered under...
