Can I just use Pulverizer as my go-to filter? Am I missing something?
I'm wondering what people are using as a filter when assembling massive combi patches. I've trialed the Primal audio stuff, the Synapse filter, tried patching in Thor's, and I'm just not hearing that big a difference. Usually it's taking a massive supersaw type thing and taming it, sometimes putting...

Re: Luna Dual Performance Synth by PinkNoise Studio in the shop
This looks very cool. Question - Is there a global filter? My problem with Layers was that any filter or filter envelope change had to be made 4x. The beauty of NNXT is that I can drop in a ton of waveforms and then select them all to edit parameters. Obviously NNXT has drawbacks, but I would usuall...

Re: SSL Master Bus Compressor
I am grateful this thread was revived because I've now finally figured out Selig's method of routing a filtered signal into the SSL BusComp SC. Before I was using the control room outs but I knew I was feeding it already compressed signal, delayed. So it's: 1) Put Insert before BusComp 2) Use Stere...

Woah, responses from Exode and Selig - much appreciated both! Yeah I should have called out I was routing straight to Filter 3. This all makes sense, thanks so much! And the patch works great.

Help w/ Thor's Envelope
Hey can someone explain the behavior of Thor's amp envelope in this patch. I notice this behavior sometimes but can't fix it. Instead of ending smoothly on release, it always cuts off. If I increase the release, it just lasts longer before cutting off. Any help appreciated. Here''s the patch: https:...

Scarlett 18i6 keeps dying/freezing in Reason
My new-ish Scarlett 18i6 is buggy as hell and I can't figure out why. Running R9.5 on a W7 laptop i7 2.7 GHz 16 GB ram. It keeps freezing mid operation and I have to unplug the USB and then re-select the Driver in Reason. Sometimes the audio dies and the clock starts running at a super slow speed wh...

OK I'm pretty confident I'm not worthy of this release. This looks amazingly cool, and the Combis w/ modulation must be amazing. Congrats, Selig, thanks for putting out great stuff for the RE platform. I'll resist trying this until I can afford it ha.

Re: Synapse RE-160 Compressor - in shop
From the comments it sounds like this isn't going to replace MClass (or SSL) as a go-to utility compressor....too much vibe? My first hardware compressor back in the day was a DBX, although not the 160. I used it on vocals and bass and it worked great, but what did I know...I was just trying to mana...

This is very cool. I absolutely love the solo at 1:58. I love the left turn at 3:00 (time is passing by), fun.

Re: (Industrial Metal) RTFX - Straightrazor
In all this is pretty cool. Not crazy about the melody sound at 1:42 or so, almost celtic, but not in a way that fits. Guitars at breakdown at 2:20 sound fake. Also drums are weak, small. Needs a vocal or more melodies to sustain interest. Good stuff.

Re: (Metal) - Winter Is Coming
This is a fantastic production, the heavy chords sound great whatever they are. When they drop and it's just drums and melodies you can tell it's not guitars but so what it sounds massive. So good. I'm intrigued that there's a way to be a screamer without killing yourself, that would be a nice trick...

All the discussion has been around VO work - how is vocal rider on actual vocals? Feels like in the time it take to tune it, I could have automated the part or manipulated clip gain.

Re: Pulsar "Dual LFO" has only nine waveforms WTH
With the Shuffle knob and the Lag knob you can create a wide variety of waveforms. Yep, sure, but they're all variations on the same 9. Meanwhile, the Panda is laughing: Shape has... over 9000 preset waveforms (not a 4chan joke) and free form drawing! https://shop.propellerheads.se/rack-extension/s...

Pulsar "Dual LFO" has only nine waveforms WTH
Why does this otherwise super useful device only have 9 waveforms?
Thor has 18.
Little LFO has 15.
Malstrom has 32!
Why would a device, the main purpose of which is to modulate other stuff - provide so few ways of doing so?

Re: Drone notes
If i'm understanding your needs correctly, it should be possible. For example in Thor, you can turn down the "KBD" parameter on a second oscillator so that it only plays one note. Basically this...or if you want I'd just create a synth doing the same thing w/ the KBD knob in the combi that only pla...

Re: Making Music
I agree with what everyone has said. Separate writing from mixing. I'd also add "have a purpose." Don't just f^&k around...always sit down with a purpose, an objective. What are your musical goals and how does what you're doing fit. What are you working on? Easier said than done, though, ha - I have...

Re: Are Props' instrument refills (Reason Drum Kits, Piano, Electric Bass) still worth it?
Can't speak for bass, but piano is pretty good. It's limited by NNXT. Reason Drums is great but you have to know what you're doing programming and mixing drums...I've found the presets need love, and the routing is all crazy in a combi into a 14:2 mixer. Once you get it it's pretty clear, but *nowhe...

Combi knob labels should transfer to seq window automation lanes
Just what it says...when I label a Combi knob "Frequency" and then I automate it, why isn't the automation lane called "Frequency"? Instead it's always called "Rotary 1." Small thing, but annoying...labels change everywhere else (e.g. when you name a device the MIDI lane changes).

Re: Anansi doesn't work for me, what am I missing?
@RandyEspoda Thanks for the visuals, I got it.
I guess, why should I hook stuff up that isn't do anything...why can't it default to passing a signal if nothing's plugged in?
Anyway not a big deal, appreciate everyone's explanations.
