Re: Music making should not be taken in a hard way

I don't think you can plan who you are and who you will be. I've always struggled with finding or creating my brand. Because I create varied forms of music... I don't make a particular style. I basically turn on my computer then think what am I in the mood for? and then I go with the flow. Make Var...

Re: Does anyone actually benefit from instrument tags?

I don't think that far into the future. Maybe we also have to learn Chinese or make music with bones on fur again after the pole shift. No need for a volume control. Have a good and safe day  Volume control? Have I read that correctly? Volume control? An AI can never do that. An AI canno...

I like tags. Helps me to quickly find the sound I am looking for without trying 1000 sounds before I find the right one.
Or you can quickly find thousands of sounds that don't fit properly.

Re: Does anyone actually benefit from instrument tags?

For the next generation the word 'book' will be as useful in a conversation as 'gramophone' is today. CRISPR will help create new animals. The concept of "this is a dog" will be a thing of the past, like the dodo. I like tags so I can subvert them. I make funny music with "sad slow cooking trombone...

Re: Does anyone actually benefit from instrument tags?

A tagging system is only useful if we can use our own tags. The way we categorize our things, is highly personal. Tags like sad, slow, cool, dark, digital, are completely useless to me. Someone who understands me. You can play a bass funny or sad. And most good things can hardly be categorized anyw...

Does anyone actually benefit from instrument tags?

So can anyone really do something with the terms? Things like sad, slow, cool, quiet, dark, digital, soft. I would never categorize my own sounds like that. Most of the time, the things I put together can be used in different contexts. They can be used in a funny or a sad context. Where are the limi...

Saw him perform in Edinburgh many years ago, I think an english alternative to his name would be something like 'John Smith', as bland and as generic as you can get in a name.
Yes. But there is no Artist around, called "John Smith". That's the Point.

Re: Music making should not be taken in a hard way

Sure, we might aim high by trying to make good music, but it should be not taken in a hard way, as otherwise you'd lose all the pleasure while creating. Most of the things that we rack our brains over are not noticed at all. Especially when it comes to fine-tuning music. The layman only sees a very...

Re: (Old School Electronics) Klaus-Schulze-RIP

I think the Klaus Schulze vibe is captured quite well. This reminds me of my high school days, when Klaus Schulze was a thing (80s). Incidentally, Klaus Schulze is one of the hottest names in the music scene. I think speakers of English don't understand at all what a conventional name this is in Ger...

(Electronic) Music Video (2): Kuzik

So. And another piece from the small animation laboratory in Germany's darkest corner. I just discovered that YouTube also has tags. Can you think of something else that could be done to tag this? I mean outside of electronic, which is a broad field.

Great. Music and visualization go well together and create a very successful overall impression.
Thank you for the praise. My concern was that without 3D, nothing would be appealing these days.

Re: (Electronic) Music Video: What do you think?

Nice! I love how it hovers just on this side of chaos. It's a nice combination of metallic sounds. The video is fine- for me, it's just an accompaniment to the great music. I had my eyes closed for part of it anyway, to really get into the soundscape. Glad you like it. Now I can start enhancing the...

(Electronic) Music Video: What do you think?

After ages I created a little music clip again. After discovering I could do this entirely in the garden on the Ipad. I think I should do this again more often. What do you think of such simple clips without 3D? And of course: Do you like the song? Of course, without subliminal sexual content, it's ...

Re: Populär Music

Hah, and I thought hip hop/rap was pretty much dead, while dance music pretty much overtook pop, so in a sense this chart only surprises me in the fact that hip hop is so high. Pop would be double and it is mostly poppy dance music 🤷‍♂️ Edit: looking at the second chart my hip hop assessment was on...

Where else should you classify classic techno or house?
techno. or house. 😅

both are more descriptive and useful genre terms than “electronic”.

Re: Populär Music

is the question, why isn’t “electronic music” in the list specifically? all of the genres in that chart include some amount of “electronic” sounds in them, depending on the artist/song. “electronic” has always been kind of a dumb word to describe a genre, for that reason, IMO. it’s a bit like sayin...
