Re: Opinions on Bitwig
I was using 5 other DAWs at one point and decided to focus on just 1 which is Bitwig. I dropped Studio One, Logic Pro and Ableton Live and Cubase. I got a Reason license to be able to use the rack plugin for my rack extension. I take to Btiwig and find it a easier and more direct than any of the oth...

Re: I need a resonator.
I'm looking at the Reasonator and PolyRes Resonator (cause I love Moog's resonators). Can the Reasonator emulate the quality of the Moog sound? Is there another rack extension resonator to look at? Thank you! Greg If you want the Moog resonator why don’t you get PoyRes? Isn’t that what it’s an emul...

Pearls and Flowbrush
I bought Pearls at some point and I just remembered that I had it and decided to play around with it and I really love it. I love it from the standpoint of having great success getting really varied and useful patterns and ideas. Seems complex so there is a lot to learn, but I feel in awe of it at t...

Re: Looking for interesting and unusual melody idea generator
I'm using MPE controllers exclusively now and it would be great to see MPE implemented in Reason. Step Note Recorder would be super powerful and useful for me if you could enter values based on MPE.

Re: Looking for interesting and unusual melody idea generator
The issue i have with most melody generators is that they tend to not take note lengths into account and everything comes out as some noodling type of melody. Thats why i like Evolution alot. The nicest melody i ever got from a generative player was from Aggregate Music System. After a couple of min...

Re: Looking for interesting and unusual melody idea generator
I stumbled on to Aggregate Music System. Do you all use it? Looks very involving and potentially powerful. Aggregate is 11/10 to get started with it, i suggest working within a defined pattern length 2xbars or whatever you are comfortable with and using the "send to track" feature and moving the L&...

Not a player, but a relative of Aggregate, is PSQ-1684: https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack-extension/psq-1684/ Some other stuff that supports experimentation (check their videos in the shop): Tonicmint Inrange: https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack-extension/inrange/ Retouch Control Noteset ...

Ha, that is very useful info!!huggermugger wrote: ↑01 Feb 2024Personally, I would say Phrase is the most powerful, Pattern Mutator is the most useful, and QNG is the most fun.

Re: Looking for interesting and unusual melody idea generator
Phrase is a little more finicky to program than your average Player, but it has tremendous power (and a ton of presets covering areas like arpeggiation, chord progressions, rhythm gtr/piano, melodic patterns, etc). Unlike QNG, PM, or Evolution, Phrase requires realtime note input. It's kind of like...

Re: Looking for interesting and unusual melody idea generator
This will probably be different for everyone since we all look for different melodies. I don’t know about Phrase Key, but didn’t find either Pattern Mutator or QNG good at finding interesting melodies IMO. I DO like QNG for more random (but still “in key”) generation, fwiw. But you may find REs lik...

Looking for interesting and unusual melody idea generator
narrowed it down to these:
1) Phrase Key Trigged Sequencer
2) Pattern Mutator
3) Quad Note Generator
Do you have a personal preference for one of these, or have another you'd (heartedly) recommend?
P.S. I have Evolution and love it.
Many thanks,
Greg

Or into Mimic in slice mode! I love beat map feeding Dr OctaRex, with two Pulsar LFOs controlling the X and Y position respectively. set the LFOs to tempo sync and different “odd” resolutions, reduce the length of the slices and filter out the lows to create percolating percussive backdrops that ad...

Re: new to combinators - a few questions
Another Tipp: the combinator can have way more then 8 Knobs. https://www.reasonstudios.com/products/combinator/ Thank you! I think I get it now. There are only 4 Controls that can be modulated with CV You can add more knobs, but they have to be modulated with automation And you can only have 8 CV c...

Re: new to combinators - a few questions
I think you confusion stems from not knowing/realising the difference between CV and automation in Reason. This tutorial is a good read: https://www.reasonexperts.com/control-voltage-in-reason.html In short: the controls move when being automated , while CV modulating a parameter does not move the ...

new to combinators - a few questions
I'm trying to set up a combinator and the CV controls are working as expected, but not the Controls. I've assigned 8 Controls to an instrument but only 4 of them show up on the back of the combinator. Also, when I input CV from Morpher or Pulsar, the dials don't move. Is there a way to have all 8 Co...
